Transvestism

Okay, I'm curious how many straight guys here have, at one point or another, worn drag. Now, keep in mind that the vast majority of transvestites are straight men, so don't be afraid to admit it!

Personally, I'm not a transvetite, but I have played one on stage. I used to play Dr. Frank N Furter in Rocky Horror, so I got quite aquanted with drag. It didn't really hold any sexual thrill for me, but at the same time it was somewhat liberating to throw off the ideas soceity has as to what a man or woman should look and dress like.

Personally, I think Prince qualifies as a boderline transvestite with his blurring of the lines as to what a straight man can wear. Right now, soceity still believes that if a man wears makeup or frills that he MUST be gay, but its really not true. I personally have great respect for Eddie Izzard, since he's a straight man with the balls to admit that he's a cross dresser! So, what are your thoughts on this matter? Do share!

Yes, I think he definitely qualifies, although more in his early days than now. I haven't seen him wear a skirt or lace gloves in ages. Still, he is an openly straight man who has worn women's clothing before, so I think he definitely should count.

Also, I think Adam Ant has admitted to TV tendencies as well. In fact, his song "Greta X" is about that very topic.

Yes Organ, I know your not straight! lol Actually, your profile pic was what inspired me to do this thread. See, a gay men dresses in drag, and no one bats an eyelash, but if straight men do it they are stigmatized. Don't you think that a straight man who dresses in drag should be lauded for his security in his sexuality? I personally admire any gay person who is open about their sexuality, but I think its a shame that straight men get flack if they just happen to be into eyeliner!

EXACTLY! See, YOU get it!!! Many straight men feel EXACTLY the same way! I don't dress in drag outside of the theatrical setting, but I do understand the appeal.

Honey, believe me when I tell you, plenty of eylashes were batted when I showed up in that outfit. Some people damn near fainted and I was at gay bars!!

I LOVED the shock factor of wearing that outfit in public. It was great smile
