You folks better forgive me now, because I'm pissed mad pissed fight and about to play the race card. Not on the folks here or the NFL necessarily, but on all the sports media sycophants who are dissing on all the star Black athletes while giving their white counterparts a pass.

As you may have heard, the Washington Redskins suspended Albert Haynesworth for the remainder of the season for "conduct detrimental to the team". Now I won't defend the man for being out of shape coming into training camp, but I am sick of analysts at ESPN, Fox Sports, and elsewhere dump on this man for allegedly being a diva. I am also sick of the potshots taken at Vince Young after his tirade for being pulled out of the game a few weeks ago after injuring his thumb. All the media has done about Vince Young is call him an immature crybaby, when it appeared to me that he was able and willing to go back into the game and attempt to lead his team to victory. (BTW, Vince Young has one of the highest winning percentages among QB's in the NFL, on par with Ben Rothelisberger and Phillip Rivers, ahead of golden boys such as Tony Romo and Aaron Rodgers, and just behind golden boys Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.)

In addition to the potshots taken at Haynesworth and Vince Young, the sports media continues to dump on stars like Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, and Chad Ochocinco, even though Terrell Owens is as productive this season as he has ever been, and none of those athletes subject themselves to any troubling off-the field incidents.

Meanwhile, Brett Favre is showing that his best football days are clearly behind him, Peyton Manning is struggling this season due to injuries to his trusted circle of players like Dallas Clark and Joseph Addai, and Tony Romo was classically underperforming at QB before he got injured and sent out for the remainder of the season. In addition, coaches Wade Phillips, Brad Childress, and Josh McDaniels, who were previously being lauded by the same sports media for their alleged strong coaching abilities, have all been fired in midseason due to their teams' lackluster records. Meanwhile, the same sports media dissing the star black athletes were practically falling over themselves being apologists for Favre, Romo, Peyton Manning, and the aforementioned coaches as well as Jeff Fisher, making various excuses for their poor play until it was blatantly obvious that they couldn't cut it this season. Though Vince Young and Albert Haynesworth have been taking much of the heat for their teams' poor play this season, maybe the real culprits are the coaches and GM's who have failed to assemble a cohesive working unit to complement these players.

I agree with u. It appears no one wants 2 discuss the OBVIOUS as it relates 2 black and white players and their treatment by the media.

nod And it's not even subtle, dude. That's what I was saying on the other thread. There is a BLATANT racial bias in the sports media.

This article kind of expresses how I feel about the whole thing.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/28185-open-mic-the-media-should-stop-calling-nba-players-thugs

Let hockey and baseball players fight...it's a good old time. NBA players fight. They're thugs. Even NFL players get some slack. IMO that's partially due to the faces of the franchise. Though the majority of NFL players are probably black, the face(s) of the league (Brady, Manning, etc.) are not.No way could a league represented by them be full of thugs.

That extends to off-field/court/rink behavior too.

While I agree with some of that...the players mentioned have put themselves out there to get that criticism..
Haynesworth is acting the same as he did in Tenneseee....that's Washington's fault for giving him that money..titans let him move on for a reason..
The WR's all use the media to put themselves in the spotlight..two have reality shows for gods sake!..they know the game and how it plays out...
The white coaches have been fired accordingly and there is no mention of Lewis and Singletary, which surprises me,

I haven't heard the media talk about Marvin Lewis or Mike Singletary very much either, though in all honesty they both deserve to be ripped apart. Aside from the Cowboys and Vikings, the Bengals and 49ers have been the biggest disappointments in the NFL this season. The Bengals had a great season last year that went downhill due to injuries, but they have no such excuse this year. I don't know what is causing them to play so poorly. And even in a weakened NFC west division, the 49ers were supposed to be on the verge of breaking out into a legitimate playoff contender. But their offense was suspect, and even though Mike Singletary fired his offensive coordinator five games into the season, he waited too long to switch Troy Smith into the QB spot from Alex Smith. It's obvious now that Alex Smith was a great college quarterback (helped along by Urban Meyer no less...reminds you of a certain quarterback playing backup for the Denver Broncos hmmm ), but he doesn't have all the skills needed to make it in the pro game. Had they made the switch earlier, the Niners may have won at least a couple more games and be in the thick of the playoff chase in their division.

While Tampa Bay has certainly made strides in improving themselves this season, I would reserve judgment on Coach of the Year honor until the end of the season. I think it will be a struggle for the Bucs to make the playoffs as long as the Saints, Giants, Packers, and Bears are all still in the picture, while on the other hand Kansas City has a shot at winning the AFC west. And don't forget about Jack Del Rio either; his Jacksonville Jaguars may end up winning the AFC south.

And as far as TO and Ochocinco are concerned, why shouldn't they pursue their own reality shows? They are a couple of the NFL's biggest personalities, and if Peyton Manning and Tom Brady can do commercials and appear on SNL, why shouldn't the other stars promote themselves?

TO and Ochocinco should do their shows..nothing wrong with that..but I wad talking about being portrayed in the media..maybe I read your rant wrong ...I thought you was saying because they're black they get bad media..I was saying because they put themselves out there as public figures(their antics are calculated)..is the reason....

I'm hoping for Giants/Falcons. If NY can just get healthy, they can beat anybody with their pass rush.

The year after the Super Bowl('08-'09), Giants finished 12-4, but faltered down the stretch once that idiot shot himself. Not having Plax killed us against Philly in the playoffs. With Burress, we beat Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl. Last year, Giants were devastated with injuries. Same shit's happening this year - Eli only has Manningham and a bunch of scrubs to throw to, and the o-line is banged-up too. But to their credit, the replacements are stepping up. If they can hold the fort until our main guys(Nicks, Smith, Diehl, O'Hara) come back, we'll be good. The bright side is Jacobs and Bradshaw are healthy and running well, and the d-line is doing work. The sky's the limit for this Pierre-Paul kid.

Albert Haynesworth is acting like a punk bitch. The league and it's fans have embraced Michael Vick. shrug And since I live in the Bay Area I can tell you I've noticed plenty of talk about Singletary. They've been discussing who might replace him on NATIONAL shows for the last couple weeks.

Philly still hates Dallas...but the Giants are more important these days

Neither team have a good secondary so bet the over

It will be all about the running game for the Cowboys. I think it would be a mistake

to put the game in the hands of Kitna for 30 or more passes.

Philly needs to get Sean McCoy off too.

Looks like the Giants-Vikings game is going to be a late afternoon affair. There was a blizzard in Minneapolis today, and it completely shut down the airport. As a result the Giants private charter was diverted to Kansas City. jet They're supposed to leave KC at 8:00 am tomorrow morning and get to Minneapolis an hour later. While the storm is expected to have left Minnesota by that time, there's a ton of snow which needs to be removed.

According to sources, the teflon roof deflated due to 16 inches of snow falling on top of it, and there are three tears in the roof. It takes about three to four days to repair tears in the Metrodome roof, which would make it just about impossible to play any games there this week, but it should be ready for next Monday night's game against the Bears.

Question is now, where do they play the game? They could play it at TCF Bank stadium at the University of Minnesota, but the temperatures are expected to hover around zero, and the Giants packed only enough gear to play indoors. The other possible sites look to be either the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis and Ford Field in Detroit.

They're going to have to play in St Louis or Indianapolis...Detroit also
