I'm not from Massachusetts; I live in Connecticut. But New England is GORGEOUS and I think you'd love it. Alot of towns are very artsy, and as you described, "European". smile

Memories of Boston:

Being 16 and trying to buy acid in the zone. Got ripped off by a transvestite whore.

Watching how excited my 14 year old was as he opened mail from Berklee. That summer he visited bio-dad who convinced him that real men are only interested in killing. He's in the Marines now, he hasn't touched a guitar in years and we haven't spoken in a long long time.

Taking my youngest and his friend to Body World at the Boston Museum of Science. Afterwards I explained to my wife that we just brought two young boys to see a bunch of dead penises and it is thought to be educational; if we had shown them live penises we would be in jail.

Now I'm older than movies, Now I'm wiser than dreams, And I know who's there
When silhouettes fall

You already sound like you are not choosing Boston, but as far as your concerns about learning certain genre of music such as Pop....didn't Quincy Jones go to Berklee? When I go to Berklee performances, I see many different styles of music, perhaps you should visit the college because you seem to have a limited impression.

IMO....Boston is THE place to be for college. Public transportation is readily available so no need to drive, there are housing situations for any budget (and yes...the neighborhood lifestyles vary with the income level). Every neighborhood has a personality, and basically, its all about finding the right spot for yourself. There are also nearby towns/Cities that offer very short commutes to Boston. Boston has awesome bike paths, and a lot of green space. Traffic is a bitch if you leave home by car at the wrong time in the morning.....but if you ride the public transportation, you wouldn't even notice the traffice.

How come I sound like I am not choosing Boston? hmmm

So far, taking everything I heard and read into account, I'd absolutely love to go there.

I forgot to ask....have you even been accepted into Berklee?

No, I don't even know when I'd have my entrance examination/interview. I thought it would be wise to first check out the city and some people who were at Berklee before I start preparing for the rest.

Did you go to Berklee?

No...I did not attend Berklee but am a Bostonian, and felt this was the most ideal spot to raise my family. (As far as my impression that you were going elsewhere.....lets just say that I was too tired to post and should have logged off....i was reading stuff and crossing responses in my mind...LOL).

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.
