Two interesting match-ups in the NBA tonight; Nuggets/Celtics, Heat/Jazz.
Mavs, Spurs and Celtics are on fire right now. Lakers have hit a mini-skid.
Knicks have, Denver, Boston, Miami(twice), Oklahoma City, Chicago and Orlando during an 18-day stretch. We'll see if this team is for real after that.
And who lit a fire under Darko Milicic's ass? [Edited 12/8/10 14:38pm]

The Lakers are fine - they're only three games out of being in first place by themselves. Honestly, they needed to get smacked around a little bit. It'll be good for them to face some adversity and have to overcome it. Rather it happened now than later in the season, anyway.
Sadly, my Warriors have reverted to their groundhog day ways. Play well for three quarters, get behind in the fourth, make a bunch of threes when it's too late. It's like watching the same damn game over and over again.
I hate how quickly the sports world changes it's mind when nothing has really changed. The Heat's current winning streak is against crap teams. Atlanta is the only marginally good team they beat. So I totally agree about tonights game against the Jazz. Huge game. They need to start beating teams of that caliber regularly if they want to be taken seriously.
Like I said in the other thread, which seems to be out of use (I'm bummed we're in the Heat thread ), it's good for the league with the Knicks are playing well. So I am excited about what they've been doing lately. But is it for real? Have they really turned some kind of corner? Will Amarie keep playing D? Will the team play D consitently enough to beat the really good teams? They've been bad for so long that I'm not convinced just yet.
Also weird to see Indiana up there in 8th place with an above .500 record.
Dallas is SUPER hot and they have a good record, but I think they're actually playing above their talent level right now. I don't believe they're actually this good.

We'll find out after this upcoming stretch.
There's a good chance Carmelo could be a Knick before the trading deadline - I'm hearing Fields, Gallinari, a pick, and Fat Ass Curry's expiring contract.

OK, a win is a win, even when it's an ugly close one against a subpar team. But I did NOT expect it to be that hard for the Knicks to beat Toronto.

Amazing shot by Felton - took the ball forever to drop in the rim.
How about Derek Fisher's game-winner against the Clippers?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Damn it Lakers! Now I just have to hope the Warriors can beat the Heat.
Like I said, a win is a win. Close. Ugly. At the end of the season all that matters is that it went in the win column. But to answer your question, I don't think anybody (even Derek Fisher) would deny that he NEEDS to make those shots when he has the chance. The only reason he's still in LA is to placate Kobe.
Congrats to the Knicks. I have no hate for seven wins in a row.

C'mon, give Fish more credit than that. Dude has made some BIG shots in the playoffs when the money's on the line. There was none bigger than his 3 late in last year's Game 7 against Boston.
As for the Knicks, Cupcake Time is over. Starting tomorrow, the competition gets rough.

Oh I definitely give him credit for those big shots. I give him credit for the one he made the other night. But at this point Blake might actually be a better starting PG. Fish was TERRIBLE last season for the most part. The season is better, but just barely. The REAL reason he's still there is because he's one of Kobe's security blankets. As is Phil Jackson, so it will be interesting to see what happens if he really leaves at the end of this season.

Knicks keep it rolling with a quality win over Denver. They play Boston on Wednesday and Miami on Friday.

Did Melo play? I missed that game - got sucked into football and totally forgot it was on.
I've watched the last couple Miami games and I gotta say they look pretty damn scary. If they can keep playing like that and Bosh contributes just a bit more they'll be close to unstoppable.

Memo to Donnie Walsh - do not trade for Carmelo Anthony(I don't want to lose Landry Fields). Sign him after the season as a free agent. Amar'e & Carmelo with the team we have now could be dangerous.

I didn't know what to expect from Amar'e without Nash. But he's opened my eyes with his leadership and will-to-win. And now he and Felton are clicking on the pick-and-roll.

Joe Smith to the Lakers for Vujacic and a draft pick seems like a pretty good deal. Joe is definitely an upgrade.
Bunch of other parts to the trade/story, but I don't really care about the rest of it. I don't believe the Nets will get Melo unless it's a trade for the rest of this season and this season only. He won't stay.
