Selling stuff on Craigslist

Lawd, this shit just aint for me. neutral

You just got done telling me that if you had to get a washer and dryer you'd be spending at least $500, Sir. But $175 for a pair (which I listed at $200) that's been used for no longer than a year is too much?? And I suppose that when you said "I like $150 better." it was not appropriate for me to say "Yeah, I bet you do!".boxed

Just like it wasn't appropriate for me to tell that other dude that before selling our perfectly good home gym for under $100 I rather donate it to charity or give it away to a friend.

This shit just aint worth my effort or aggrivation. lol

We've bought stuff through Craigslist without issues. Craigslist works much better for me as a buyer.

As a seller, I can't deal with the calls, but then might or might not show-ups and the extreme hagglers.

It's just not my thing.

Honestly, don't accept calls. Take email replies only and then if they sound decently sane and/or human ask those people for their numbers.

This is the only way it works for me. That way the people that email offering half of what I'm selling the item for can go straight to the trash without reply. lol

Sorry to hear that. We are selling a lot of stuff on ebay, you get nonsense there too some times.

Before I moved, I sold my truck on ebay. I had 3 people look at it within 4 hours of listing it.

Cash sale, all went smooth!

yeahthat

I recently sold a treadmill that was gathering dust and I put it out there for $300 cash, price firm, no haggling and within 2 days I had $300 which we then converted into a new dining room table.

C-list rules if you wield it properly... nod

If I list again I will state FIRM and no hagglers. Thanks guys!

It's stuff that we don't really need at the next place (the home gym we could go either way on shrug) and figured, "hey it might pay for the moving truck and some other stuff".

Sold our old dog run with no issues...so there's still hope. lol

DON'T TAKE A CASHIER'S CHECK. That's a scam. The cashier's check will look official, but it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

Oh yeah! I like the ones who ask you to please take your posting down immediately and they will send their "movers" over with a cashier check... that will have a little extra included for a speedy sale. falloff

It's perfectly appropriate. If people are going to be dumbasses about the process they deserve to be treated like dumbasses. I've purchased and sold, as well as given away and picked up free items on Craigslist many times. It's a great service, but people will be people. Some folks will always try to get a better deal. Just include "$200 firm" and/or "Prince Non-negotiable" in your ad. nod

I had that happen. They said it would be cash but showed up with a cashier's check and it was more than twice as much as the bedroom set. They said "if you give us $130 cash refund then you can keep the extra money."

I said "sure, come back in 92 days when it clears and I will." They got really mad and said they would call the cops! I said "that's cool I'll call them..." and I told them I have your name, your email, and you license plate number so I suggest you leave now..."

EDIT: remember that a good fake check will appear to clear in a few days, the money may show up in your account. It can take as long as 90 days for a check to really truly clear.
