Why haven't they made a Dr. Strange movie yet?

Dear Marvel Studios,

Give me a nice Japanese horror auteur.

Give me Jeff Goldblum, he ain't doin shit.

Give me a superhero movie that ain't about the punchin and kickin, but about pathos, hubris and redemption through the subjugation of dark forces, both within and below.

Give me a big screen adaptation of the time Doc went to Hell to save Doom's mother's soul from perdition.

It should be fascinating.

It should breathe serious life into a character with great potential.

It should do for Doc what Frank Miller did for Batman.

And if I see the name Mark Steven Johnson anywhere near it, I will use the Eye of Agamotto to turn your wives against you in the most sensitive of ways.

Oh I know how...

Let's get to work.

I was never a Dr. Strange fan, so I never encountered anywhere outside of The Defenders and an occasional X-Men appearance. But sorcery characters don't seem like they would translate to film very well.

Whoops, I meant Dr. Strange not Fate edit.

That's why it has to be a horror film. And a Japanese one. We gotta go outside the box on this.

For instance, Blade was rated R. It had no intention of being anything but what it was, a badass vampire movie that slowed bullets and put dudes in wraparounds and trenchcoats 2 years before the matrix.

And it saved the comic film industry, when fools were puttin nipples on Batman.

I'm suggesting somethin more like that. Not for kids, not in spandex, but somethin that reflects the consequences of dabblin in the unholy and the conditions that make that seem like the best option anyway.

The old Doc movie was a Corman film, if I'm not mistaken. And sucked and swallowed massive massive turds.

Massive turds.

The Cap movie from back in the day starrin Dolph Lundgren was just a bad idea.

But anyway, Doc is due for a reboot.
