I would have took his paper and beat the shit out of him. mad I can't even begin to tell you... There should be laws and a test for people to determine who should have pets or children.... disbelief I'm telling you most people would fail!

True story:

My mom has never driven. She gets around using the bus, or in extreme conditions she'll use a cab or ask a friend.

Years ago, a homeless woman came up to my mom and asked if she'd loan her money for bus fare to get home. My mom, being one of the nicest people you could know, said "I don't have any money but I can give you a bunch of bus passes" (same as cash for bus rides).

Well, here's human nature for you: the homeless lady replied "Fuck You, Bitch!".

neutral

I have a similar story:

Some random guy walked up to me as I was pulling into my garage one night and asked me for cab fare to go see his mom whom he found out was just admitted to the hospital. I instead offered him a spare metro card of mine which had at least enough money on it for one fare so he could take the bus. He said "nahhhh" and quickly walked away.

I guess dude didn't have to see his sick mom that much.

Short version of the same story I always tell: Lady standing outside of a store with a kid in a stroller and a kid on the ground, frantically asking for money so she could get "stuff" for her kids. I asked what she needed because I would have gone into the store and purchased two of EVERYTHING on her list, but she said no. She wanted the cash. disbelief

We've all sorts in all ages and sizes and so forth, and it seems that nothing is done for the benefit of all in their minds. We've tried so much to help to regain focus for so many of these homeless, and yet...they live their lives. This being with shelters, welfare, wic, food stamps, job placement, the list goes on, with the revenue of the tax payers.

It is such a sad sight, you've described and I wish that somehow, we could change their thinking pattern, but almost alike addiction, they have to come out of it, and take grasp for themselves and to themselves.

Sorry to hear this, trust your days are filled with much happiness, and I will include the dog too.

I can't watch that shit. I foster dogs and dealing with the damage inflicted by humans first hand is bad enough. sad

I can't watch that commercial with Sarah McGlauclin (sp). You know the one....they show the cat with the missing eye and the shivering dog etc. I got tricked cuz they've got two commercials now and the second one shows still photos of animals with captions saying things like "why do they beat me" and "will I ever get out of this cage". bawl

GUURRL!!! First off, I LOVE her song "Angel." By now you know I'm a SUCKER for animals. When that commercial first came on, you know what happended. I was a mess. bawl All my donations go to the Humane Society of the United States and the SPCA. nod

Alright so earlier this afternoon while frequenting my drug dealer aka friendly neighborhood Starbucks , I see a homeless guy/vagabond looking fellow and his apparently malnourished dog (half german shepard/half lab?). Anyway , he's just leaning up against the light pole on the corner and I think to myself "i will give kick him a few bucks when I come out of the coffee shop if he asks me."

Does ole dude ask me for some money? You betcha! Of course before he gets his hustle on and commences with preying upon my sympathy for the homeless, he takes a rolled up newspaper and WACK right on the dog's head. sad I was stopped dead in my tracks. He's hovering over the dog, with newspaper baton in hand, yelling "didn't I tell you to be still...didn't I?" and then WACK again. That poor dog looked so scared and confused. Ole wretch sees me walking toward him ( I wanted throw my latte at him) and he asks "Can you spare some change miss?"

I tell him..."Not to people who beat their dogs!"

I kept it moving and didn't even look back. I don't think he would have fed that dog anyway.

WTF? You have to beat up on defenseless creature; probably the only creature in the world that gives a rat's ass about you?

Sad to say, but he probably blamed the dog afterwards for not getting any money as it sounds like the kinda guy he is. You should've offered to buy his dog from him if you were that concerened - I'm sure you wouldn't have had to give much.

Have you been back and seen if this guy and his dog are still there? Called animal welfare?

You know I actually did. I went back this morning and hung out for a bit. This Starbucks is busy and it's a good place to hit people up for money. I waited around for about 15 minutes but I've not seen him. Animal welfare are courteous but they can't do anything unless I know the guy or know where he resides or if I find the animal abandoned.

Man that's a tough one. It would have taken every ounce of my body to not get in that guy's face; and I've never been in a fight in my life.

I've had a puppy for about 4 months now and I worship the ground he walks on, (I think he knows it too the little brat). People fighting with each other - seen it a million times and always try to break it up/calm things down.

People hitting their dogs like that. I've never actually seen it in person and don't know what I'd do.

Good for you for calling him out.

I can agree with you on this=[

Here in hollywood there's quite a few homeless people with animals, and they try to do the sorrow angle, Ow my dog is hungry we need money for dog food or for my cat.

These two homeless people... a mother and son... Have a cat that they, pick up by it's tail and slap it when it moves around. And then he has the nerve to ask people for money, to buy cat food!

Then there's two other homeless crews that have dogs, and always slap on them. But like the others ask for money..for dog food?

I understand some people sadly had a bad life, and situation and they don't deserve to be homeless. But some people....

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
