Abandoned Six Flags in New Orleans....haunting footage This shit is creepy. They should film a movie here before it gets demolished. It's probably not safe though.

So sad everything that happened to New Orleans. I hope the city one day can be as great as it once was 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Well, we can probably count on the fact the infrastructure will be that great again -- perhaps even greater. What I've always been afraid of is populations that actually gave the place its personality being effectively priced out of the city eventually. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

That's a bit dramatic on their part (I know it's not Militant's wording), it says he got permission from the city.
That said, it's a pretty depressing video.

No worries, just didn't want it to seem to anyone that I was attacking you or anything.
Part of me feels that a zombie movie might be in bad taste, given all of the death that resulted from Katrina. But part of me thinks that a decently made movie, with profits going toward those still in need down there would be a way to make something positive out of it. Of course, the problem there might be finding producers, directors, actors, etc. willing to make less from a film.

I was born and raised in Louisiana in a city 3 and half hours west of New Orleans. I went to New Orleans just this past June and much of the city still looks like this. After Katrina destroyed soo much, many businesses and people were hesitant to return because they realized that our government isn't financially equipped to handle national disasters so next hurricane that comes through you better run or die...disgusting, absolutely ridiculous. This was not the first hurricane to devastate this city nor the first time it was almost completely destroyed, so I wasn't worried about it rising from the flood waters. Then there was the BP oil spill. We talked to soo many people and they just seem soo disappointed since they feel that their country doesn't give a shit about really helping them. Some of the morale of this great city has been broken, but not all of it. This city has been through soo much over the centuries and yet it still remains and stands strong and proud in the face of adversity and its doubters. The history and culture there is one of a kind and nobody does it like Louisiana. My home city got hit by the hurricane after Katrina, Hurricane Rita, and it did quite a bit of damage, but people there saw that the government didn't give a fuck about them so they made it a point to leave the moment the weatherman said it was heading in their direction and no lives were lost. I'm proud of my home state for perservering through these dark times and continuing to let the good time's roll.
If you want to really see what happened during Hurricane Katrina watch the documentary "Trouble The Water". It will break your heart and open your eyes. Extremely good film that got nominated for an Oscar and rightfully so.

That seems so sad.
And yes, it does look haunting.
It reminded me of this youtube video, below. It's a swimming pool in my town. I have so many memories of swimming there as a child and as a teenager. It closed about 15 years ago.

they should have opened this with a montage of children enjoying the park before the hurricane- then it would have really been haunting to see the after..... LOVE HARD.

The music adds to that eerie effect. Left4Dead would be the perfect movie. I'm sure part 2 took inspiration from this park. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Too bad that the video has been taken down. It sounds fascinating. Here are some photos of an abandoned amusement park in Germany:

I wish I could go there and take pictures myself, because it seems like the above photographer hasn't quite squeezed out the full potential of the environment. Still, they're pretty cool.
