Yeah, there's that too. One job I had, I shared an office with 2 other people; we had a strict rule: no eating lunch at our desks for that very reason. At my current job there is one intern who always brings stinky food and eats in the room right next to my desk. I'll sit there wondering what the hell stinks and then realize it's her nasty lunch. barf I keep air fresher spray in my desk drawer now.

I tend to like smells unless they're really foul. So while I understand the annoyance, it doesn't usually bother me. But this one place I worked at there was a group of women who REGULARLY brought stinky fish dishes to work. They were so bad people actually complained and they were asked to keep them in the kitchen/cafeteria area. I didn't help. You could STILL smell them and there was nothing else to be done about it. You just had to smell stinky fish lunch for an hour or so several days a week. lol

I never bring fish dishes. Shrimp once in awhile - but not fish.

I hate bad food smells, too. The guy who sits next to me eats some of the ickiest-smelling stuff ever. feeling ill

My food is known for smelling awesome. In fact, there was a woman who used to sit near me who, every time I heated up my lunch, would pipe up over the cubical wall, "[Genesia], what are you eating? It smells amazing!"

That said, I think the worst office food smell in the world is microwave popcorn. But nobody thinks twice about frying up a bag of that shit. disbelief

I brought a little microwave in for my office so I can have my popcorn and not hear all the complaints. Or the greedy fuckers trying to mooch some!

Most of the people here order in every day so when someone does use the community microwave there's always a crowd of hungry skinny bitches hanging around drooling over the "real" food.

I've got my microwave stashed away so no one knows. I just close my door and turn up the music and have my lunch in peace!

I actually LIKE the smell of popcorn! Reminds me of going to the movies as a kid.

Now...when someone BURNS the popcorn in the oven...barf...definitely gross!

I love the smell of popcorn. I make it at home fairly often.

I hate the smell of chemical-laden, bad-fat, microwave "puffy chunks."

I just had a visual of you getting up and walking over to her, giving her the "stinkface", then spraying her lunch with Febreeze!

falloff

I don't do that, although I've been tempted to walk into the room and spray it very obviously. It's concentrated room spray from Bath & Body Works. Unfortunately I brought it in because my desk is also not far enough away from the men's restroom and I'm very sensitive to smells. ill One of the guys who works with us also loves to use Lysol disinfecting spray and I hate the smell of it so I brought in my own air freshner. sigh

Fuck yes. I HATE when people make popcorn in the office, even when it isn't burnt. That shit does not go away. It actually angers me. It's not uncommon for me to approach co-workers I am cool with just to vent that "some asshole made popcorn again at 10 AM"

The fish dishes were a cultural thing for the people bringing/eating them. And they actually looked quite tasty - even to a vegetarian (especially the whole fried fish - we eat with our eyes and all that). But once they were removed from the microwave and the circulating air caught hold of 'em it was over! Fish stink. disbelief lol

We've talked about that bag o' cancer before. Not a good smell. And it DEFINITELY lingers more than most for some reason.

I bring my lunch everyday to work. Every now and then I'll treat myself to a drive thru meal.

I brown bag my daughter's lunch on school days with a sandwich from leftovers and/or other foodstuffs, because she tells me that her school's cafeteria foods make her feel tired and sleepy.

Cafeteria food has that affect on me too. I don't think I feel nearly as tired after a lunch from home as I do with cafeteria lunch. It puts me out.
