ok i edited (drastically) my post earlier in this thread.

i know ur not happy with me already,,,but please let me stress one thing:

i am not racist . . . . . .it could have been anyone from any country...what i was trying 2 get at,& should have put in this way instead of perhaps being judgemental in my last post (or seeming so at least)...

is with the hatred against the USA at the moment,... the terrorist attacks & the views of those people... when u have 6 americans on a shuttle & 1 outsider... it is just something that made me think 'could this have been terrorism'?

please i can understand how u could have taken what i sed the wrong way.
if i upset anyone i an truly sorry.
in a situation like this one we have at present, the last thing anyone wants,& i know i dont want,is friction or unstablism

Intriguing. In 1986, near the time of my birth a space shuttle explodes, and 17 years later, near the time of my birth, another one explodes.

If ever I wanted to be an astronaut, that has cured me.

A horrible tragedy. For me, it has no nationality. It's a blow to our collective human spirit. My thoughts are with the families of the astronauts.

Still waiting for word from our president. I'm not looking for a speech, just a few words on behalf of a grieving nation. Once again, he's late with his leadership.

Why would you give up something just because an accident happened? People die driving cars every day...Should I say:

...and this happens so soon after I was just reading from Feynman about how the faulty parts slipped through the bureaucratic cracks that led to the Challenger explosion...creepy...

For once I'm with you Max.

This is about the astonauts, their families and the valuabla work those men and women did on this mission that is now lost.

It's not about SOME arabs dancing. Those who wrote this in here would be the first ones to dance when something like this would happen to Arabs.

We don't need that hate right now.

People drive to go to work, go see relatives, etc. everyday life.

What the hell is so important about going up in space to see how spiders mate. Boy, I would hate for this research to stop. Has nothing to do with accidents and driving. Get the hell out of space

That is a very asinine thing to say. There are a lot of good reasons to go in space. Hell, I don't know about you, but I'd like our earthly descendants in "x" number of years to have somewhere to go when our sun is gone, or when an impending astroid or something is ready to smack us in the ass, or how about when we simply reach our carrying capacity?

Not to mention, space exploration answers a lot of questions. It's beneficial, dammit. And I believe accidents like this are much less frequent than say, a plane crash. What the hell do you need to fly a fucking plane for? Get your ass on a boat! Or how about this...

"What the hell is so important about going to 'Country X' to sell some shit? Fuck visiting relatives, or doing anything beneficial! Planes fucking blow up sometimes! If I needed to do it, then it should be within a distance I can drive my fucking car that could be hit by some other asshole, and I could die just the same! How about I spend the rest of my fucking life hiding under a bed and contributing nothing because something bad could happen at any moment, be it in the line of doing something productive or not?"

Rater have them mate in space than in my bedroom.

No, seriously. Humans always went to the frontiers of their known worlds and they will do so as long as there are humans.

Just think of how many sailors died when trying to reach new shores. With an attitude like this America still wouldnt be on the map.

Well, now that I think about it you might be right...lol
