Stephen King Latest Book, Full Dark, No Stars

File:Full Dark, No Stars.jpg

November 9, 2010

Stephen King’s latest book, Full Dark, No Stars, will be released on November 9, 2010. It’s a collection of four novellas that each deal with the theme of retribution.

The four novellas are:

  • 1922 When Wilfred and his wife move onto land willed to her by her father, it sets in motion a gruesome sequence of events that leads to madness…and murder.
  • Big Driver Tess, a mystery writer, takes a shortcut home, only to run into a nightmare more terrifying than her stories.
  • Fair Extension In this darkly funny tale, cancer patient Harry Streeter decides to make a deal with the devil, but as always, there’s a price to pay.
  • A Good Marriage Darcy learns more about her husband of 20 years than she would have liked to know when she stumbles across a mysterious box in their garage.

Nice. Somewhere around Bag of Bones I got really tired of Stephen King. But this looks like it could be really good.

Me too. biggrin Neil Gaiman did a really nice review of it right here, which actually means quite a lot to me as he's one of the few people I love reading more than GOOD King.

In regards to those who stopped reading, I thought Cell was better than it should have been, I actually really enjoyed Under The Dome (although it's a bit long), but for some reason I haven't read Bag Of Bones yet (even though it's on the shelf). Go figure.

King is great. Last ones i read were "Thinner" which wasn't his best, and "The Mist". With that oneyou can totally tell he was heavily inspired by HP Lovecraft. Made a good film i thought too.

I have read just about all of Stephen King, except for 4: 3 of which are Richard Bachman...

I still have the bookmark in "Tommyknockers" (hate the movie, too!).

I even have the "Dark Tower" graphic novels, the "Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" pop-up book, and buy magazines when he has a story in them. geek

The last one I read was "Blockade Billy"...

I love Stephen King!

King fell off for a while, especially after the accident, but he's still a master at the craft.

Koontz, on the other hand, has become unreadable to me. disbelief

I remember Different Seasons, maybe the pinnacle of his work, was four novellas: Stand By Be, Rita Hayworth(that later was filmed as Shawshank Redemption) and two others I've forgotten over the 18 years since I read it.

I moved on from King after Gerald's Games or something, but still have fond memories of Cujo, The Dark Half, Needful Things, Salems Lot and all the tales set in Bangor. Actually, I read On Writing a few years back which was pretty cool, he doesn't remember writing much of his 80s work having been so consumed w/coke and booze, sat at his typewriter w/tissue up his nose to stop nosebleed.

"Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" is the official name of the novella.

That thing is awesome! I got it for $2.99 on a discount table. Yes, $2.99! And there was people all over the table. I'm thinking to myself, "WHY AREN'T ALL OF YOU PEOPLE BUYING THAT THING!?" lol Kept the thought in my head, though. Oh, and I have all the monthly Dark Tower comics. whistling lol Don't have any of his magazine or other serialized stuff, though. That's beyond my geek level.

lol I've also got all the individual issues of the ongoing adaptations of The Stand and The Talisman, as well as his original writing for comics in American Vampire (ongoing) and Stephen King's N. (recently ended). geek lol King is big in the comics world right now, I love his writing/ideas and I'm in a comic shop three or four times a month. There's no way I'm not going to buy them. hmph! Mine! lol

I just got the latest one. nod

I have the beginning of "The Stand", but not "The Talisman" stuff.

I'm not that big on comics, but I loved "The Dark Tower" and wanted more when the books finished.

I never got into "N" boxed

I loaded UR onto my iPod, but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.

Awesome! highfive biggrin Any form of comic book buying is good for the industry. You know they're continuing The Dark Tower with another proposed 30 book (comics) run, right? The first mini-series has already started, "The Gunslinger - The Journey Begins". excited lol Also, I'm loving American Vampire. I hope he stays involved.
