I don't think it's a bad habit at all. When I did makeup, if I had someone in my chair for a while and we had a good vibe going, I would use "Hon". I think at some point during Women's Lib our nicely intended "hon's" and "sweetie's" got turned all around and mixed up with the disrespectful ones of lecherous bourbon breath havin come-sit-on-my-lap-sweetie cigar smokin old boss dudes. hrmph
