When is it the right time to put up Christmas Decorations/Tree?

Because I'm ready to get it over with lol Normally I put up Christmas decorations and the tree the day after Thanksgiving....but since I'm holding down two jobs right now, I know I'm going to be dog tired by the time Thanksgiving rolls around, especially since I have to do a little cooking too. I've been looking at my calendar to see what free time I have available and right now I have some time to fit in some decorating. I'm available Saturday Nov. 13th to put up my Christmas decorations/tree...lol What do you guys think?

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I am a firm believer that Xmas things should stay hidden until after thanksgiving. I like to celebrate one holiday at a time. It's a disservice to thanksgiving - which is one of my favorite holidays and is the very opposite of Xmas. Thanksgiving is about being grateful, Xmas tends to be about greed.

Yeah yeah yeah, the pilgrims and native americans really didn't get along like that, and yes, the "true" meaning of Xmas is about some kid in a manger but that's not how I see them celebrated.

The earliest I put my tree up is the day before Thanksgiving, and thats only cuz I like the Thanksgiving guests to help decorate the tree and remenise after dinner. Then after Thanksgiving I put everything else up.

But I understand what you're saying about your schedule, so F it. Do it when it's convenient for you. nod

Just don't start actually tuening outside lights on until after Thanksgiving.

I layed down with love and I woke up with lies

Oh, no outside Christmas lights for me wink But I promise I'll hold out on putting the Christmas wreath out until the day after Thanksgiving. thumbs up!

Or I could just put the tree up but not plug in the lights until the day after Thanksgiving. hmmm

Me, too, John! I hate doing all that work and then have to take it all down and pack it away just 2 weeks later. Now I don't even bother with all that decorating. No one comes to my house during the holidays, so I don't have to have a tree. I just put a wreath on my front door (it's made of plastic balls that light up--really pretty) and call it a day. Christmas is for kids...

lol That's why I joined SS this year because I didn't get diddly squat last year for Chirstmas. My mother gives me a check, which I don't count as a gift really. I mean, yeah it's a gift of cash, but I'm talking about gifts wrapped up in paper and bows. My brother is a Grinch, so he doesn't "do Christmas," although I give him a wrapped gift every year. I really enjoy giving. I'm looking forward to seeing who I get so I can start the hunt for the perfect gift! excited

Earliest- The weekend after Thanksgiving.

That being said, PLENTY of people are putting outdoor decorations up now while the weather is still nice.

Both perfectly acceptable option, just don't turn lights on etc, until after Thanksgiving.

My boss said she was doing her Christmas decorating last weekend so she could enjoy them and they wouldn't be just one more task to do during the holiday season. I also see the logic in that, so this weekend I'm going to start unearthing my decorations, but I won't be putting them out until after Thanksgiving.

BTW....THANKSGIVING??????CHRISTMAS?????WTF????????

nutty

I'm firmly planted in denial

Christmas comes too early as it is....

I'm a firm believer in 1 holiday per month.

October for Halloween

November for Thanksgiving

December for xmas

Jan for lefter over xmas and new years..... cause of all the pretty snow.

I hate rushing xmas ever year.... it comes too fast as it is. eek

where I come from, I think you do it the night before Christmas Eve (?) and pack it away at New Years - traditionally you use a real tree, so it can't be there for months on end.

I usually put my awesome new fake one up beginning of December, since I paid so much for it LOL

Since I moved away from home, I never had a full size Christmas tree until last year (all black) and I loved it so much, I'm putting it up this year the day after Thanksgiving.

Day after Thanksgiving is the earliest most people put their trees up. I normally put mine up in DEC either the first or second weekend. I would suggest you put yours up now or the nov 13th (if it's an artificial tree). You can cover it with a sheet or something and reveal it after Thanksgiving. As for other decorations-if your doing outdoor lights-just don't turn them on till DEC. All other decor can be put out later-you will find time for small stuff.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment
