You're absolutely right.

What gets me is that the white audience members, God bless their souls, seem usually pretty good at buying tickets early, then showing up early and getting the best seats in the house -- so they end up not only in the audience, but right up front, where Mooney can eviscerate them face-to-face! shake I don't know how they do it. I just don't have that sort of constitution. boxed I can only imagine that some of them know what to expect and get off on the terror -- kind of akin to hopping a roller coaster or visiting a haunted house. lol

I've though about that over the years........I'm beginning 2 think that it is a part of Paul's act. Hired hands.....so 2 speak.

Ahhhh! Could be!

I've been to five of his shows and I've seen those people from close up and personal and from their reactions alone,,,,I'd say your assessment is incorrect evillol

That's too bad when an artist gets booed for whatever reason, but I've said it before; Charlie's a funny guy, BUT that doesn't always translate to "funny comedian". Tells funny stories, but I've sat through a lot of his stand-up, and it's not that good, least what I've seen. He does have some comedic acting chops and does great voice work. I will give him all the credit in the world for not trying to be his brother. That alone gets respect.

Less than a yr ago so he may be still grieving-kinda sad. Hope Charlie works it out.

Oh yeah that is right. Charlie may be good for doing guest spots on movies and

television but he may just not be that good as a comedian. My sister saw him 3 years

ago at a comedy show and she said he wasn't good at all.

I think that's exactly what it is-people hear and see him on The Boondocks and Chappelle and assume that he is a great stand-up and he is not, but just funny in those roles. I saw a skit show he had lately and it was not funny at all.

That being said, it has been explained to me that comedians (at least the modern day, business savvy ones) have 2 different sets of jokes to reach all audiences when they do stand-up: They have the non-cursing set, and then they have what the call the "blue" set, where they do the raunchier stuff (if that's part of their repetoire). Most older comedians will tell you this, and they actually have jokes written and archived so they can bounce back and forth between the two audiences with ease, regardless of occasion. Just as the Grambling U administration maybe should have given pause to consider if Murphy was the right comedian for their event, Charlie should have known what audience he was dealing with as well, and presented fitting material accordingly. That's just show business.

But, most colleges don't require comedians to do a clean act. I went to an all woman's University and we had comedians come on campus and they did dirty shows. And this was 16 years ago. Grambling is a very lax school in general. I've been to their homecomings and spring flings so uptight they ain't. I even remember when Erykah Badu went there.

Charlie was in Dallas a few weeks ago and I ALMOST went to see his ass. But I've heard he's wack. lol

It wasnt that his set was 2 raw 4 the audience. In a nod 2 Eddie 87', the kids wanted "Hello Grambling State muthafucka, fuck them hoes, get money, dick, pussy snot and shit, suck my dick bye bye" Charlie is more of a storyteller and theyd didnt get it so they did what kids do act up and out. Shit at that point Charlie did what any Brooklyn born would do and told 'em Fuck all ya'll and goodnight. lol

I'm surprised by this. He is a very funny man, and I totally get his humour. Maybe he is not cut out for stand up comedy, but one thing for sure, if you were in a group of people with him at a table, he'll crack you up. He is funny.

That place looked ghetto as hell and the people there didn't even pay him any respect or give him a chance.

I respect him for walkimg out on their unnappreciative asses.
