I loved that plane sooooooo much and it BROKE!!!!!!!!

They were really really lucky seeing how much of the engine fell off and bits went through the wing.

I know!!! and all the photos of passengers show them smiling and laughing

Holy shit. This could have ended very badly. I'm glad no one was hurt. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

can you imagine looking out your window at this after a sound like a gunshot
over 400 passengers and crew onboard
who all look so happy
their orange stickers probably entitle them compensatory stuff, I wonder what!

^ Happy to be alive. Those stickers probably get them an upgrade to First Class. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I wanted to go on it again, but now I'm kind of scared

Well...technically, they should replace the engine with a new one that's in better condition, so you should actually be safer... Facebook, I haz it - https://www.facebook.com/Nikster1969

Look, I was standing under that plane: I can't see myself in the crowd but I was there taking shelter under the wing when it was bucketing down on that very day.

Jeez. That sounds about right, though.
This thread brings up memories of a few years back and a similar thing happening here. I live about 1/4 mile from the MSP airport and I was outside mowing the lawn one day when I heard a huge explosion. I looked up and saw a 747 with its right engine on fire and obviously struggling to keep above the tree tops. It was really loud, even over my mower's engine and it scared the hell out of me. I was positive it was going to crash. So I ran inside and called 911 - of course, they were already notified via the airport's response team to be prepared.
They were able to circle around and dump fuel for landing, but I heard from a friend who worked at the airline (Northwest) that the pilots were barely able to keep it in the air. What made it so bad was that it was on take-off and climbing with full power, which is the worst time to lose an engine.
I was on the ground and shitting my pants. I can't imagine being on board. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

noooooooooo
UGH I can't imagine!!!!
I've had a jumbo fly very low over our place, on its way back to the airport (we live 45 minutes drive away) after having dumped all fuel out over the bay. Just THAT freaked me out. I could see stuff coming out of the plane, and we live quiet close to the beach so it must have been fuel I freaked out of course.
I cry when I see the concorde footage, so awful

It must have been pretty scary, but I heard the audio of the pilot speaking to the passengers just after it happened and he sounded very calm and relaxed about it.
It just goes to show how amazing those planes are. Even with 2 engines down, they can carry on.

I thought only one was out so it had 3 left

The first thing I thought of when the story came on the telly was, " hmm, wonder if Charlotte has heard about this?"
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah, it was one. But they can fly with 2 out.

WOW!!! that IS amazing | |
