Since I'm snowed in...

I'm making Beef Stew with sweet potatoes, onions and bacon. Got it from the Crock Pot recipe book I found on bargain at B&N this past weekend. Hope it turns out well. I'll know by the time 7:30 rolls around. What are you guys (that are snowed in) doing????

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I’m not snowed in, despite the 17.1 inches we got over the weekend. I was back to work on Monday. pout

BUT – I did make a rustic winter stew last night from tomatoes and lentils and carrots and potatoes and leeks and all kinds of good stuff and served it over creamy polenta. It was SOOOOOOOOOO good. I’m having leftovers tonight. And probably all weekend. And then I’ll freeze what’s left after that. lol

Being snowed in is a little bit of being able to finally have a reason to just sit down and relax with some hot cocoa, or some hot tea, with the candles lit and laid back watching an old black and white movie on AMC on the couch. However, that's only the first couple of days...after that, you are itching at the window and thinking about risking breaking your neck or crashing your car just to escape boredom at the house. I've never been snowed in for more than a week and can only imagine that I'd experience something like Cabin Fever if I did. lol

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Mach

I have been snow / ice homebound since last Sat night

I have enjoyed the solitude and inovations that have come with it

My house is spotless and i have cooked/baked up a storm ~ only one day without power/heat ~ the high that day was 17 here lol

coldest night was 5 without wind chill ... and there was blizzard rating winds that day/eve too !

it's not even WINTER officially yet

smile

I know, right!?! I haven't had beef stew in ages -- my wife does most of the cooking, and she's a veggie. But stew sounds perfect after reading her post! drool

Well not where I live, but I'm sure if you go further north in VA where the mountains are, there's probably some skiing events there...but I'm not a skiier so I limit my activities to snowball fighting instead. biggrin

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Okay the stew actually came out perfectly! I made some brown rice to go with it and seasoned it with a touch of cayenne pepper so that flavor gave the stew some kick and it was delicious!!!

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I'm only semi-snowed in...we can't drive very well but the subways are running just fine so I've actually been running all day in sardine packed public transport. I was just thinking of making stew for dinner, but I thought it would need too much time and I have to leave again. In the end I made Indian food: rogan josh, curried veggies, basmati rice, orange mango chutney, cucumber raita, and some potato stuffed nan (I cheat & use packaged mashed potatoes to save time). I'm full and sleepy, but I'm orging to stay awake so I won't be late leaving the house smile

Same for me. The public transport is late becuase of the weather conditions and I had to walk yesterday when it wasn't working for some hours.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Well, I'm not really crazy about the snow, but today I'm somehow enjoying its peace. I'm also wondering how I could (and if I could, that is) go out of town later on. I don't really feel like it, but I should do my best to at least try, because of a certain occassion. But it just keeps on falling!
