I was thinking the same. I don't like how the article is putting "Farmville" first. That's the least of it - if it wasn't Farmville he "distracted" her from, it'd have been something else.

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm strongly against what this woman did, and I don't care how unpopular that viewpoint makes me here on the org.
I hear that Farmville's pretty fun, though. Haven't played it myself, so I can't really say.
I don't think your opinion will make you unpopular on the org. If you read the responses that have been left so far on this thread, you would find that we all feel the same way you do.
I used to play Farmville, but I don't play it anymore (or any of the Facebook games). Sure they're fun, but a person can spend an awful lot of time playing them. That is not good, when a person has a lot of other, more important things that they could and should be doing. My from my own personal experience. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you. |

I saw and respect what was said earlier about laws protecting children, but the law is retroactive at best. It's not like people who hurt kids think the punishment won't be so bad, they probably don't consider the law at all or presume to circumvent the consequences.
The only thing that can protect kids any better is a worldwide surge of common sense and love.
And that shit ain't comin.
So the best we can do is beat the shit outta sick people, knowing it ain't gonna help them, but it might make us feel a little better. And then worse when we consider how they got sick in the first place.
Sometimes, I just think 'fuck Earth. I woulda flooded it too.' |

That's why I'm always thankful I had smart, common sense, hard-working parents. Were they perfect? No, but who is? But they provided me with a stable home life and a solid foundation. I feel so bad for kids growing up in fucked-up households with brain-dead morons for parents. |

I am also happy I've always had smart, common sense, hard working, loving parents providing me with a stable home and a solid foundation. But maybe this young mother came from a dysfunctional family that fucked her up. Just saying that she clearly looks like mentally ill and that it's often those kind of people that do terrible shit like this to their own children. |

WTFW? You've not heard of kids in foster care who have been abused or adopted kids who have been abused? You've not heard of couples who wait for years only to adopt a "white" baby when there are so many babies of other ethnicities in need of a home that get ignored (i.e. baby hungry instead of just wanting to parent a love a child)?
If the baby had survived being shaken like a rag doll do you not think it would have suffered irreparable brain damage therefore significantly altering it's quality of life for the worse and lowering it's chance of being adopted into a loving home? So easy to just say wtf. |

Absolutely. Plus she may have been on medication for some mental health issues and this may not have been the first time she harmed that child. I think that baby was in danger before it was even born. |

or tired... or distraught. and there is no such diagnosis tool such as looks. there is no 'crazy look.'
As is said earlier it is not as if her mug shot is a typical photo she might pose for, she looks like she has been through the rigger because she has been. Find some compassion and think how would anyone look if that had just h append to them? And saying "I would never do such a thing is not acceptable." as a deflection.
and you all have to know that if she were to be found mentally ill that she would in all likelihood never be convicted. [Edited 10/30/10 9:52am] "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

I'm kind of tired of the way these things get a spin put on them for a sensational headline.
The real story is, frustrated mother shakes baby to stop baby's crying, baby dies.
Shaken-baby deaths are rarely premeditated murder. Anybody who shakes a baby to shut them up is an abusive monster (or at least of extremely low intelligence and compassion), I'll give you that. But the intention isn't usually to kill the kid. Of course, she did, and should be punished accordingly. But the headline makes it sound like she stabbed the kid with a kitchen knife screaming, "You'll never interrupt my barn-raising again!!!! FACEBOOK FOREVER!!!!!"
It's what you make it. |
