WHAT IS MEANT BY THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT?

"Sometimes a woman has to let a man be a man."

I heard a guy at the Starbucks say this while he was on his cell. I've heard it before, especially from older men around my step dad's age.

So how do you guys interpret this statement?

Most times men say this when they want to take the lead and make a mess of things and then stand back and watch their wives straighten things out- because we all know that behind every sucessful man stands a smart woman.

LOVE HARD.

hmmm that makes sense but then I don't think I've ever heard it in the reverse..."let a woman be a woman" except in that P song we all love.

lol though wouldn't it be smarter to not let him be a man in that case, or maybe re-direct him towards a game on TV or Playboy--something less destructive?

but for the record I think you may be right. I was also thinking maybe it had something to do with cheating or just excusing brutish behavior in general

My guess is, the dude on the phone you heard was pulling out the stops to persuade his married mate to join him on an excursion to seedy titty bars that night.

it depends on the context, which you are not giving.

Sometimes a woman just needs to let her man stick his dick into any wet hole that's willing to accept it. That's my take.

Christopher damn!

I'm a man but I never understood that statement. No one from the period where people said that openly in the past would ever explain what they really meant by that so I just let it go. lol

nod when I asked my step dad what it meant he just said "you know....you gotta let the man handle things....let him be himself." confuse I still don't get it really. I don't know how one stops being their self.

the guy on the phone just said "yeah yeah....that's how women are....they don't understand....sometimes the woman has to let a man be a man."

He also said something about "running things" but I had to get my latte so I didn't hear anything more. neutral

It's still an odd statement.

yeah it sounds like it's time to board up the windows when you hear that. Something stupid is about to sweep through town.

then it probably has to do with work or business and not being there for her or the kids, when he promised her that he would, or some shit like that...

you know a man has to take care of business

Perhaps it means for once, just once, maybe she can let him roll over and fall asleep afterward without him having to give her all kinds of reassuring conversation.

falloff

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking! I figure this way. If a man has to remind himself and/or ask permission to be what he already should be, then yeah, I guess it's time a woman let him be his simple ass self...

Why wouldn't I let a man be a man? What else is he supposed to be? Maybe men need to stop acting like bitches and they wouldn't have a problem....
