NDRU said: Other than the 6th Sense (which was really good) his movies have a great setup, and terrible follow-through.
That said they are just interesting enough that I keep renting them. Perhaps it was just me but, when I saw unbreakable at the cinema, I didn't see the end coming...but I think that's because the 'M Lampshade twist' wasn't fully expected of his films

That movie was okay too, but even though I didn't guess the twist, I thought it was a bit silly, especially compared to The 6th Sense's perfect twist My Legacy

Were you ever a comic book geek, or are you? I think Unbreakable felt a bit cooler if you were/are. I really like that movie. Almost as much as Sixth Sense, actually. But everything after Unbreakable has been a fast slide down an icey slope. I was pretty much done by the time he got to The Village. The last couple have just been laughable.

If you take into account world wide box office and dvd sales/rentals, yes, they're profitable. But just looking at US box office doesn't cut it. First of all, a film needs to make about three times it's budget to REALLY be profitable (due to film stock and distribution costs, advertising and the theaters cut). Shyamalan is BARELY making money and on MOST (not all) of his films, and that's ONLY after international box office and dvd sales/rentals.
Also, doesn't change anything about my original comment. There ARE better filmmakers out there with better ideas who can't get funding while this douche makes bad movies about his kids bedtimes stories. Very frustrating.
