Oprah should be ashamed of herself for this ish! What's up with all the coded language? He experimented with something or another in his twenties which I guess means he dated men but realized it wasn't for him but the statement was soo darn cryptic I got lost in the conversation.

I saw Mr. Perry's interview with Ms. Winfrey, tragic. Even so, why would anyone be surprised if Mr. Perry had issues about who he was or his sexuality? The man was robbed of one of the most precious acts that's an expression of intimacy, love, lust, and pleasure. I really don't understand why he had to "admit" to anything. He's suspect I guess because he didn't tell you what you wanted to hear, your narrative. What if Mr. Perry had admitted he had slept with men? Tell me, what do you gain? neutral

I'm not surprised that he has issues at all after all that abuse and I don't really care one way or another whether he's gay or not. BUT he's a public figure who is offering this information of his own free will to the public (coincidentally while promoting a film). Therefore he and everyone else should expect people to discuss it and have their own opinions about it. And that's what we're doing, discussing it.

If he doesn't want his personal life open for discussion, dissection, ridicule, gossip, etc. then he should keep it private and keep the false-ringing assertions about his heterosexuality to himself. Until then, I reserve the right to comment, question, and make fun of any "celebrity" who trades on their personal issues for publicity's sake. shrug

rolleyes This is a general discussion forum and if there's room for threads about floaters in toilets, fisting horses, and fucking dogs then I don't see what the big fucking deal is about a lil gossip. It's comical how some of ya'll pick and choose when you're gonna put on your sensitive sweater and be righteously indignant about someone's post or thread but you're right at home on a thread about something classy and meaningful like someone sodomizing a dog. Classic! clapping

Very touching interview! I've never seen any of his "Madea" plays or movies, just saw "Why Did I Get Married Too" about a week ago, so I have not been much of a fan of his work up to this point. But after watching this interview, Tyler Perry now has my full attention. I admire him so much for speaking on these issues, and have already marked my calendar for his next appearance on Oprah on November 5th.

No you didn't. Or you wouldn't have edited to TRY to make a lame insult (yeah, I quoted before you did that). And who told you not to respond? Tryin' to play that victim card when nothing happened. Defensive much? lol

Too bad I missed it. I even got his email about it and still forgot.

He's had a helluva lot to deal with and I admire him too. He made his own way and no one owns him. I like some of his work and the fact that he remains open to growth.

I'm going to try to catch the show on the 5th.
