Bunches of flowers

I'm not a big buyer of flowers but what would make a nice bouquet to you? I'm talking a variety rather than just a bunch of the same. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

It's the mix of colours that make it not the species. Very easy to get right - go to a florist and, if they don't already have what you want just tell them you want to spend £x and want these colours.

I am HUGE on the types of flowers... because if you show up with the stinky ones I will hate you for it!

1-For a "masculine" looking bunch I tend to do, long callas (deep burgundy/black) with kangaroo paws, curly willow and maybe a brain celosia or two...

2- YELLOW colored roses... with green antheriums, white hydrangeas, lots of varieated japonica leaf or perrenial grass sprinkled with a few oriental lillies that sport soft hues or stargazers...

3-Shasta daisies in all colors with lilies in bright yellow/orange and snap dragons in bright hues

4- FRENCH Tupils in creamy white, with green bell hollyhock, green echanaicia, lots or fuzzy fern leaf and even baby's breath

5- MY FAVORITE.... King proteas, with queen proteas mixed with brain celiosa and peach colored roses, and curlt willow...

I always add lots of greenery (leaves) in my bunches. Have fun! and forgice the misspellings. boxed

Ty... I love flowers.... I think I am the worst type of person to give flowers to, but you can never go wrong with a new hybrid like the rainbow rose... that's bred to have petals with different colors.

SCARY!

They are out of season.... but I adore the smell of sweet pea or lupines!

Lillies have a strong smell like snap dragons. If I get an entire bouquet of either one I'll die from an asthma attack. :cough: lol

nod those are lilies! Some smell softer than others, but the Oriental lillies are intense compared to the Asiatic lillies.

Actually, they are not bred to be multicolored. It's done through a stem cutting and natural dye process.

knowing the occasion and the receiving person's personality is always good.

a nice spring or seasonal mix is always nice.

for something with a bit more to it, try contrasting colours. i.e. yellows with a deep purple. or blue and orange. try sunflowers and iris, with baby blue eucalyptus in with some greens.

a common mistake is people ten to think more is better when simply using two or possibly three contrasting colours or flowers goes a bit further.

good luck. wink

tip:

if it's going to someone you don't know too well, try to stay away from scented flowers. stargazer lily, while a beautiful flower, the fragrance can be overwhelming for some and others may be allergic.

I have issues spending $20-100 on flowers because they like, ya know, die! I prefer giving live plants (flowering or otherwise).
