The WHOLE of the Bay Area is unlike anyplace I've ever been. Every kind of person, neighborhood, geography, lifestyle, food, entertainment, etc., all within a couple hours drive (at MOST, usually much less). It's expensive to visit if you want it to be, but it can be done on a VERY moderate budget, or be dirt cheap (if you stayed in hostels, used public transportation and visited the ENDLESS things you can do and see for free). The colleges are everywhere and most of the attendees blend in with everybody else pretty seamlessly. It's just an awesome place (you can tell I like it, right? ). Someday I'll get around to taking/posting pics of all my favorite Bay Area places. I've meant to take pics of some of them for years but I keep spacing it.
