The Alien Saga: my favorite horror movies ever

Okay, so maybe they're technically sci-fi. But they're also quite horrific. I love H R Giger. I love Sigourney Weaver. I love the aliens. I love the concept. People have been ripping off ideas from the original Alien movie for years now. I love how they always get a great director for each one, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fincher, etc. And I love how they pace them out for maximum impact. I hope there's another one soon. And I hope the Aliens come to Earth. evillol

Yeah, i agree, the Alien films are great. biggrin

I really enjoyed the last one, "Alien Ressurection" too even though it got mixed reviews. I loved the kick-ass half alien Ripley! biggrin

shake "...Game over man!!...Game over!!..."

I LOVE the Alien saga, altho (shrug @ bkw) I think Alien resurrection was utter shit. Far too much gore and not enough suspense.

Alien and its sequals are my favourite movie collection ever.

Ive seen Aliens (my fav) about a zillion times and everytime I watch I dream of Hudson (Bill Paxton) surviving and not getting dragged thro the floor 2 his acid drooling death...

And TRON!!! After 11 yrs it looks like there may actually be an Alien vs. Predator movie in the works!!!

I'm rooting for the alien for sure. I hope it takes place on Earth. I wonder how they'll factor Sigourney into that if at all. I think that the 2nd one is my favorite too but the first one is awfully close. It's slowly taking over as my fave.

Alien - 4
Alien 2 - 4 1/2
Alien 3 - 2

I only watched Alien Ressurrection once, so I can't rate it properly...

I liked the first two a lot though. I thought that they were really great!

From what I no the Alien vs. Predator movie will be all new cast and all new story etc...
(additional)
Have U read the books, Ive got them all (including the Alien after stories) and its possible the AvP movie will follow the story in the book, which will be bloody brilliant.

But there is also a possible Alien 5 in the works and this will more than likely include Siguorney, which is probably 2 help the franchise more than anything.

But if the movie turns out 2 be a prequal, which is looking more likely than I doubt she willbe included.

I just the fuckers 2 be made.

I suppose they could make a prequel on how the aliens took over that station in Aliens, which was only briefly dealt with in Aliens. Perhaps go back further dealing with how that crashed ship happened to be on that planet in the origibal Alien.

wink Yeah, I think that was their plan. I just hope they do it, its been way too long 4 all this talking and pussy-footing...

The possible AvP movie has had countless scripts turned down by companies due 2 high potential expenses...but 4 fuck sake...the Pred + Alien franchise is huge...its bound 2 be a hit...

My mind is reeling with possibilities now.

If there is an Alien 5, it better include Sigourney. She's the best part about these movies.

I love 1 and 2. Are they on dvd? Three was more gothic and way off course but it had it's moments..such as when Roc gives that motivating speech ..and the whole atmosphere is odd too. 4 was rubbish imho. They took it too far.

5 could be about one of them ( Aliens) on earth. I thought that was in the works before they did 4. They also need a Ridley Scott director for a 5 too.

Yeah, I really loved Alien3 when it was out. But now I see it more for what it is. It doesn't have much character development. It's more of an action movie. But I love the David Fincher direction, shaved heads, harsh language and extreme violence. It definitely has a unique feel.

Wow. You way underrate the first one. And overrate Resurrection. Maybe you should watch Alien again. It's undeniably good.

Always? I thought you said you didn't rate 3 and 1 as high cuz you didn't know them as well.

I think the first one is the most psychological and eerie.

The 2nd is the blockbuster with great character development.

The 3rd is the harsh action flick.

And the 4th is any anything goes, throw the rulebook out kind of thing. I think it's by far the weakest of the movies. They really stretched things to make it different. I guess they had to since Ripley died in the 3rd.

They need James Cameron to do it again for sure. (Aliens)

I hate, repeat HATE what they did after the second one.

If anyone got the first series of the Dark Horse comics know what I'm talking about.

When Riply returns to earth after the second movie, all seemed fine.

Apparently, another deep salvage unit finds an abondoned space ship and they find an egg or host, I can't remember. But anyway, it's a queen. They take it to earth to study.

It's not long before, they get out of captivity, and they take over earth. There were cools seens like big hives in the jungles, under water, in the city. Great scences that could be done today with modern film making.

The aliens were pictued as millions. Big swarms of them. I wanted to see this as the next picture.

First the story revolves around Newt. She's a grown woman now and eventually re-unites with Riply and Hicks. Bishop, I think, is still in the picture.

It all ends up being about the "other alien" from the first film. The one who's space ship they find that held all the eggs to begin with.

After that, there were all kinds of other stories that were pretty good. Like one where you saw the alien's home planet, there were the black ones like we were used to seeing, and there were red ones.

It was like a war between two ant nests. This story you kinda got to see how they operated. You find out that if you kill the queen, the drones are kinda lost.

Give me these stories any day. They were good.

I loved the Aliens vs Predator. The first story that Dark Horse put out.

for those that don't know.

The Predators have a queen alien gagged and bound in one of their ships. Her job is just to lay eggs like she does. They have a machine that scans the eggs to see if it's a queen egg or a drone egg. The queen eggs get destroyed.

The Predators drop the drone eggs on inhabbited planets. In this story, it's like a jungle planet with all kind's of animals.

The aliens impregnate the animals, then hatch.

The predators come back after a week or so and begin the hunt. Awesome idea. Eventually, humans were mixed in, when the predators stock hunt a planet where a human team of researchers are working. So they are caught in the middle.

The story thickens when the Alien queen on the ship figures out the egg scanning process and manages to get her tail free and lets one queen egg get throgh the hatchery process.

This puts a queen on the planet, and predators get way more aliens than they aticipated so all but one of the predators get killed and all but one of the humans get killed.

This allows for the first human/predator team-up to survive.

Again, great idea.

What the heck were they thinking with Alien 3 and 4???
THEY SUCKED! SUCKED! SUCKED! SUCKED! SUCKED! SUCKED!

Man, I've been wanting to get that off my chest since I saw Alien 3.

Don't make me get into how they totally screwed up Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned.

What a great series (The vampire chronicles) totally ruined.

I read some where that Anne had sold the movie rights to Warner and had no control over what they did with. She had a whole lot more input into "Interview with a Vamire" and we got a good movie.

What happened to the book "The Vampire Lestat" ?

That could have been a great movie. What a trip through time that book was.

Maybe it was all the homosexual activity of Lestat. I dunknow.
