In Memory of An Angel.....

..it happened Saturday night, Sept. 25,2010..

This little Angel...

[img:$uid]http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr54/scorpiorage319/PETZ/011.jpg[/img:$uid]

got away from me.. sad

i let her out in the fenced yard just after 7pm...

and 20 minutes later, when she didn't come when i called, i went looking..

she's never gone out of the yard, never left it even with the gate open

i will never know why she did..it might be she saw the neighbors..it might be someone walking up the road coaxed her out...

i found her tracks in the sand in the road that went to the next door neighbors..this is where i thought she was,and starting calling her name again..the neighbor heard and asked what was happening and then started helping me look for her..i found more tracks goin up the other direction and followed them to a spot where she had stood... 2 little prints next each other..

my neighbor looks out across the highway from there, and sees her...

the rest i wont even tell my mother..

because it was her doggie..

i can still see her playing the towel game after her bath mushy

and picking the little pillow shaped morsels out of her food bowl cuz she liked those best foodnow

and her pop out gremlin ears everytime she would roll over so you could rub her belly nod

and the little happy dance that was performed even when it was only me coming home excited

it's gonna be a while....

feel free to post your angels..

no matter where they are now...

here..or somewhere....

sun 'why y'all trying to say goodbye? I didn't go anywhere, I'm right here, im all around you,always..' sun

in a line from my dream, I heard a voice and saw a silhouette in a chair..

In the dark, four paws did roam. To search the darkness all alone. To find the meaning in the night, a dogs desire to take to flight. Loved ones searched in despair and could not find her anywhere! Her four paws had become two and left this world on wings she flew. So sorry to hear of your loss friend.

I am so, so sorry, peb.

hug I wish I could give you a real hug right now.

Our Lhasa was attacked by a big pit bull once, and he got away by pulling out of his collar while the collar was in the pit's teeth. He took off running, but I had no idea whether he was seriously injured or not (I assumed he was) We couldn't find him for about an hour, and for that hour I was terrified that he had crawled off somewhere to die. I'll never forget that terror, or the relief we felt when we found him alive and in one piece. I'm so sorry that you experienced this and it turned out to be the worst. cry

Sorry to hear this. You read threads here about people's aunties and things, but it's difficult to empathise. Dogs though...I'm there. When I'm on my deathbed, it's not the people I knew I'll sbe thinking about, it's the dogs.

Oh Peb I'm so so sorry. hug hug

We've had a few angels. It never gets any easier. sad

Orion was the hardest to get over because he was the last of our "original pack". He was born in our first home only weeks after we'd moved in. He was an amazing amazing boy and I tear up just typing this.

When he was just a tiny 2 month old baby:

[img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/personal/Orion2month.jpg[/img:$uid]

This was after we discovered he had severe bone cancer (he was 9), we had a bday party for him. The painkillers became less effective a few weeks later and we knew it was time to let him go. sad

[img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/personal/2007_08110003.jpg[/img:$uid]

Right before him (months) we lost Roxy (our first St. Bernard). She was now an old gal and had kidney faliure.

[img:$uid]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i9/jgascot/personal/DCP_0023.jpg[/img:$uid]

Amadeus (Orion's brother) we had to put down at a fairly young age. He and Orion would sometimes fight when they were young and he caught his lower jaw in Orion's collar, dislocating it in the fight. This makes it impossible for the dog to eat or even drink and it even affected his eye. There is very little that can be done in that case that doesn't involve a life with feeding tubes. We just couldn't do that to a dog that loved to run and play and be rambonctious.

Bella (Orion and Amadeus' mom) rottie/lab mix and our very first rescue died of liver issues. She was a sweet sweet loving girl. mushy

Dior (our first basset) was vicious and violent (bit everyone in the family and Ron even had to get stitched up from one of the attacks). We tried everything. His condition was not disclosed to us by the rescue and then they wouldn't take him back. We even tried to find a trainer who might take pity and take him in (though we were attached to him we could accept that maybe we were not the right people for him if it meant saving his life). Eventually after running out of options we had to put him down. sigh We insisted that we be the ones to be with him because in spite of all the stress and bites we'd been the family he'd known the longest. It wasn't his fault. sad I wish that show DogTown had been on back then. We would have gladly driven him cross country to let him live out his days there.

This was my angel for 13 years. He was my constant companion through so many ups and downs.

Sept 17 was three years since I had to say goodbye to him.

I am thankful that I got to be there to comfort him in his last moments.

Thank you Willie~ I miss you!

Mm. I'm pretty certain that scenario is unlikely - to say the least - but the thought does put a lump the size of a pineapple in my throat. Reading the inital poster's description of her dog playing with the towel after a bath did it too. Fucking heaetbreaking, really. Moves me more than any work of art.

Heyyy, it could happen. OK, seriously, I am not joking, there is a cat that I have seen and my daughter has seen running through my place. It's not one of my cats, it's kinda transparent, if you know what I mean. Funny thing is, it looks just like my cat Tigger from my childhood.

Seriously! Not joking in the least bit.

I won't even talk about the man I saw walking out of my bedroom in the middle of the night a few weeks ago. eek
