I hate that guy! He'd do anything to get a view on his website. Nobody has a right to out someone, no matter what the situation. They will come out when they feel the time is right, sadly in this day sometimes coming out of the closet as gay can seriously damage careers, especially in film, tv & music, so they will come out when they feel there careers can withstand the backlash if they are unlucky enough to experience it.

This fool should know about bullying, he does that on his stupid site. Fuck that hypocritical jackass.

I'm kinda amazed that there are celebrity folks (like Sarah Silverman) that they would eventually agree to help him with videos protesting the bullying noting that some of them would be made fun of by Perez in the future.

Interesting, I said the same things in a conversation today with someone, who then told me I should write to him about it. I, of course, didn't...but I'm glad someone did.
But in the end, it won't make any difference because he is only as strong as those that follow his site...and unfortunately we live in a society that thinks making fun of others is entertainment. It goes far past Perez's site.
This should really be an open letter to everyone that frequents his site all in the name of "fun".

Yeah those idiots are not as good making racist, homophobic taunts over there. But Perez tolerates it, it brings him "hits" on his site so he could care less.

Uh, when?
Most people who come out these days either don't have any career left, so it's safe, or aren't that famous in the first place.
But as far as losing their careers goes, Ellen certainly didn't lose hers, Neil Patrick Harris is going strong, Alan Ball...

You're listing very different situations as the same, and they're not.
Ellen did suffer, a LOT when she came out. The mid-late 90's still weren't that gay friendly, compared to now, when Neil Patrick Harris came out. George Michael wasn't even out at that point (which happened just over a year later). She came out in February 1997. Her show was canceled within a year or so of her coming out. She couldn't get a job on TV, and went back to the stand-up circuit. She herself said the phone stopped ringing for any offers. When she did get a job, it was usually in some dismal movie with a bit part, or a voice over only.
The generalization of people coming out because they have no career left is untrue. What's a "career"? In OK and People magazine every week? Having a reality show on some two-bit cable station that no one watches anyway? Having a hit sitcom? People having a job in Hollywood is just as good as anyone else having a job in the world. We point fingers at celebrities for having their heads in the cloud, but the minute a celebrity gets a job and makes a living, we knock them down for being D-list, and not famous enough.
It's contradictory when you said they don't have a career, or aren't that famous in the first place, yet Neil Patrick Harris is as hot as Betty White right now. Hosting the Tony's and Emmy's within a year of each other, plus a hit sit-com? Is that the "don't have a career" part or "aren't that famous anyway" part?
I mean, if you don't dig someone, that's fine, but don't be dismissive of them having a job, being productive in their career, and their personal life. I would think that Neil, or Ellen, or whoever would say that their strives to have a normal life, and a family and friends trumps any Hollywood job they've ever had.
Back to the subject: Perez Hilton is a douchebag and a bully.

Bradley23 posted a follow just a bit ago:
Oct. 7 ABC News article o... bullying:Perez Hilton: “I’ve been a bully, I can still be a bully on my website. The point is to not be a bully to the point where someone is going to want to kill themselves — threatening violence, calling them homophobic names repeatedly.” Are you fucking kidding me.
So what he’s saying is, it’s ok to bully as long as whoever you’re bullying doesn’t want to kill themselves because of it. And how do you know when they’ve reached that point? Are you really the judge of how much bullying is “too much”?
It seems to me that since different people react to things differently, maybe you shouldn’t bully at all. The point is, there is no bright line rule for how much bullying is “ok” and how much is “too much.”
Also, apparently it’s ok to call someone homophobic names, as long as you don’t do it “repeatedly.” But, what is “repeatedly”? Because there are certain celebs that Perez repeatedly calls homophobic names. And, why is it even ok at all? Because Perez is gay, too? Because he claims he was once bullied? Does that make it ok?
By the way, the article is entitled “10 Celebrities Sticking Up for Gay Teens.” Perez is one of the 10. Ok.

Perez Hilton calls every cute guy he sees "gay".
And he definitely outs gay men on a daily basis. The worst thing is, he has no idea how his intimations are affecting the person he's saying is a closet gay.
Pretty bad. | |

I'm glad bradley23 is calling him out on this bullshit.

Calling someone a homophobic name, or any derogatory name - one time on the internet, is calling them it repeatedly. Does he not know how the internet works?
Please. | |

Perez is much more cruel to gays than homophobes are.
He's always using 'gay' as a put down. Saying people have 'gay face' and the like. Accusing people of being gay, when, if there's nothing wrong with it, then why should it be used in an accusatory manner?
When he had an altercation with Will.I.Am he went so far as to call him 'Fag' as an insult.
Perez gives people reason to dislike homosexuals by being such a high profile 'bitchy queen' and an example of every negative stereotype that gay people are lumped into.

What I meant was the ones who come out nowadays, as opposed to Ellen back in the 90s, aren't that famous anymore (like Ricky Martin) or were never that overly famous or sought after in the first place (Clay Aiken, Lance Bass). When's the last time a real A-list icon with legions of fans worldwide came out? (I'm not saying they should or have to, just that it's always the lesser famous ones or the ones who were never big - it seems like celebrities still think there'll be the same reaction for them now that there was for Ellen back then)
Ellen is at the peak of her career now, as is Neil, so one can't really say that, in 2010, coming out (or being openly gay) will damage a career. Neil came out in 2006 but had been irrelevant for a long time before he came out, whereas Ellen was still in the spotlight. I wouldn't be surprised if her being female had something to do with the huge reaction, too. Had any other female celebrity, at around the same level of fame, come out before her like that?
