(Since Dan's not around to post it....)

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

This is getting more disturbing by the minute. neutral

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It would be a confluence of perfection if Prince was wearing a tiny hat in that gif. nod

My nan usually buys things like this for everyone at christmas. I always used to feel guilty and get stuff out when I knew she would be visiting. I've thrown it all away now.

One thing I did keep from her was this 3 monkeys thing... my kids really like it, so I decided to keep it in a room upstairs that we hardly ever use.

I never feel guilty. boxed

If someone gives us something decorative for the house they're taking the chance that it will either fit into what we're feeling at the moment or not. I won't display stuff just because it's given to me. I know that sounds kind of mean.

This is why I've learned to not give people decorative gifts (unless it's something they've expressed wanting). I usually now stick to something they can use, pamper themselves with or consume. lol

my sister, for my last birthday, gave me a wrought iron and copper water feature that looked like a set of scales

needless to say, on the way home from my birthday dinner, I dropped it off on the nature strip next to someone's hard rubbish collection, which is where I suspect she got it from in the first place pissed

falloff

I'm sure that's where my sister-in-law picks up most of her Xmas shopping and it's usually where they end up as well lol
