is that all it will take? I feel the same way about tall boots...I love them..but feel like I'm too short to wear them.

Go shopping and try stuff on and see what you think. smile

all this talk of leggings....perhaps I should try them. I dunno...just don't think they will look good on me...I'm too short.

I think a bigger issue is what your legs actually look like. Unless your thighs are pin thin, you need a long top over them. That's what makes you look short.

What you have to do is think of leggings as an alternative to tights - not as an alternative to pants.

Ya, ZK and I already talked about them needing to be worn with a long top.

But I don't believe that wearing a longer top with leggings makes you look short. I have plenty of shorter friends that wear leggings and they look great...but come to think of it, it's always worn with heels.

And you don't need to have pin thin thighs to wear them and the top doesn't have to be down to your knees, just longer than your butt looks good.

nod Just try some on with heels.

Until last week I hadn't worn leggings since I was about 12.... I went shopping with some friends and they bullied me into trying some on. I cannot tell you how big the grin was on my face when I saw they actually looked alright. Actually more than alright - really good.

I'd put that line at mid thigh. lol

Oh - and while we're on the subject of leggings...

If you try a pair on and can see the sheen of spandex - the leggings you have on are too small!!! They are not meant to be sausage casings. disbelief

I bought this skirt last week:

for around $25.

And I bought 2 plain black long-sleeve Tees at Old Navy the otehr day for around $6.50 each (on sale).

I haven't bought new clothes in forEVer otherwise. I'm saving for my travel in a month. I'll be shopping up a storm (hopefully) in Thailand.

I do almost all of my shopping at H&M, Target, DSW & Old Navy. And I do thrift stores. And outlets like Marshalls and TJ Maxx. And a handful of small boutique-y places. I'm pretty frugal. But I manage to be stylish nonetheless.

smile

Love the skirt.

And you've pretty much just about described my entire shopping experience. lol

Though I wish I knew cool boutique-y shops that had guys stuff around here. pout

I'd probably have to look around DC for that.

Normally only Genesia would bust out that kind of info. lol

I was just gonna say, "Dude, you're stealing my job." mad lol

I can't tell from the pic you posted, but my guess is, those are 8-wale cords - which is the standard for men's casual pants. (The standard women's "mid-wale" is 14.)

That's so cute. lol

Once the sheen starts to show it crosses into biker-wear territory. shake

No one should ever ask you if your leggings come from the Lance Armstrong line. hmph!

I have a few stores I go to regularly and they also send me coupons; so I'll wait until they are having sales (buy 1 get one 50% off), then bust out the additional 20% off coupon. About a month ago I got 4 sweaters for roughly $100, they were originally $40 each.

The thing I dislike about buying at places like H&M is that the quality is pretty raggedy. I try to go to the sale racks at Banana Republic, Anne Taylor, places like that. I also dislike that most of the clothes are made in places like Bangladesh, India, Taiwan, China where I know the workers are not making a fair wage and mostly likely working in terrible conditions. sad But shopping for Made in the USA is very difficult. About 2 months ago I bought some new shoes for the gym -- they were made in the USA (New Balance), and not terribly expensive. smile

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Yeah, as for quality, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don’t. I don’t expect my clothes to last more than a couple of years and consider myself lucky if they do. While I wear a lot of staples, I go through my own phases (colors and styles) and anything that old may well be sitting in the back of my closet anyway at that point. lol

I’m also someone who goes up and down sizes regularly, so it’s silly for me to invest in something that will be around long-term as I more than likely won’t be able to wear it long-term. That’s just the way it goes. I’ve been static for over a year now, here’s hoping I only ever go down.

hey...that's a good idea! I'm so bad..I usually shop by myself and I never know if stuff looks good, and I always lean towards that it doesn't. I went shopping all day last friday (had the day off...no kids with me) didn't buy ANYTHING! nothing jumped out at me and all the stuff I tried on I was like "meh" or just not sure about it. I hate shopping and getting nothing out of it! grrr!

No, they aren't. They are usually found hanging in a pants rack.

Just got back from Kohl's.

Scoured the clearance rack, and found a pair of jeans in my size at like 70% off. Paid $13 for them.

thumbs up! Can't beat that!

That's awesome.

I used to hate Kohl's when they first came to NJ (when we were still living there). I thougth it was stuffy and old fashioned. We went there last year and I was pleasantly surprised. I even bought Ron a jacket there last Christmas.

I heart Kohl's. I've purchased two tweed blazers there that I saw at other stores (literally, the same blazers) for two and three times as much.
