I kinda love you, but I absolutey despise cords. I'd never, ever buy them.

I feel you. But for me it depends on the color and especially the width of the, errr, cord? lol Some look better than others.

Those are called "wales," and corduroy is measured by the number of them in an inch. A 4-wale corduroy fabric, for example, is plush and often used in a dressier pant, while, say, a 21-wale corduroy is somewhat more functional and often used in a pant cut on a jean pattern, like johnart's. geek

The only minor change *I* would make is a bit of a longer top. Not much longer though.

For ZK!

Neither do I. It's a big no no in tights anyway.

Buy larger sizes to get the oversize look.

I would go loose. A belt can always make it a bit bigger look good.

But oversize doesn't fit right. It doesn't matter if the seams are not at the shoulder. That's the whole point of the look.

Just try on larger sizes, bring a belt and see how it looks with one on too. As long as you don't fall into sloppy territory it looks great.

e.g. sweaters and tops can be worn too big, blazers and some blouses can't.

You just have to be open to try all kinds of sizes. Experiment!

I've brought some lovely shoes in sales recently. These gorgeous little things were reduced to £5!!!!!!

They look awesome with a pair of leggings.

I'm very lucky to have tiny feet. The small sizes are always usually the last ones left. biggrin

I bought this skirt last week:

for around $25.

And I bought 2 plain black long-sleeve Tees at Old Navy the otehr day for around $6.50 each (on sale).

I haven't bought new clothes in forEVer otherwise. I'm saving for my travel in a month. I'll be shopping up a storm (hopefully) in Thailand.

I do almost all of my shopping at H&M, Target, DSW & Old Navy. And I do thrift stores. And outlets like Marshalls and TJ Maxx. And a handful of small boutique-y places. I'm pretty frugal. But I manage to be stylish nonetheless.

I was just gonna say, "Dude, you're stealing my job." mad lol

I can't tell from the pic you posted, but my guess is, those are 8-wale cords - which is the standard for men's casual pants. (The standard women's "mid-wale" is 14.)

For my own part, I've had a weird sort of fidelity to Banana Republic and J. Crew for a few years now. (Though BR's stuff has been really boring of late. bored) Virtually all of my clothes come from those places. They have a midline price point -- not high, but a bit lofty for the (lack of) money I have -- and I offset the expense by regularly selling pieces I'm bored with on eBay. With that turnover, my net output on clothing really isn't bad at all, and I can keep a pretty fresh wardrobe.
