I'm going to Glastonbury 2011!! Anyone else ever been?
Planning on taking campervan/caravan rather than a tent, and any advice on all aspects of the Glasto experience would be welcome!
I've wanted to go for about 20 years, finally got myself organised and spent nearly 4 hours trying to get tickets. So happy when I finally managed to get some just 20 mins before they sold out!

Ex-Moderator | I have been twice. And had a marvelous time. Even though I hate camping and carted myself to a foreign country to do it.
This was back in 2000 and 2003 so I don’t know how much may have changed over the years.
I tented it both times. I don’t know if you’ll have running water in your camper, but if not, I highly recommend bringing along a big package of baby-wipes. We took turns sending others out of the tent to allow ourselves a baby-wipe bath to keep clean and fresh every day of the festival. I washed my hair once in a sink.
I also highly recommend eating AFTER visiting the portaloos first thing in the morning. They’re gross. You might lose your breakfast.
Don’t try to fit too much in. You’ll never make it from one side of the grounds to the other in 10 minutes so don’t even bother trying. Pick a few must-see bands/artists a day and allow yourself to follow your fancy the rest of the time. You’ll be delighted by the surprises along the way.
Hmmm… That’s all I can think of for now. You’re gonna have SO much fun! |

Priceless camping festival advice right there.
The second part is really good, too.

Is Prince playing Glastonbury this year?!?
(Sorry, had to post that as it is a thread in P:M&M about 72 times a year.)

Who knows - Oh, that would be so great!! The line-up is not going to be announced until next spring, although the organiser has said that one of the headline acts in an American that he's been trying to get for years!

Thank you, I'm even more excited now. I hate camping too which is part of the reason I've haven't been yet - then I realised you could take mobile accommodation and decided to go for it! Now all we have to do is find a campervan/caravan to borrow/rent!!

I know wellies are the done thing at festivals, although i find them pretty cumbersome and not particularly comfortable. Especially if you are pegging it from tent to tent to catch bands. So my advice is this; Pack 2 pairs of old trainers and wear thick socks with two polly bags over each foot, then a 2nd sock to put over each foot again. This ensures dry and very comfortable warm feet if the mud is in full flow. Id also personally suggest tenting it if you can. The banter and atmosphere on the campsite is amazing. Don't expect to get a great sleep tho unless of course you drink til you drop or get so stoned you crash out. Do not bring too much food, but the food you do bring make sure its tinned fruit, maybe biscuits etc. Tinned fruit is just what the doctor ordered after a heavy night boozing. I can't face the greasy food vans in the morning. Small torch is a must, if you are looking for skins n shit in your tent, and small can of bug spray.
