Forever 21 clothes?

Anyone shop there? Are their clothes true to size? I'm thinking about doing a bit of online shopping *can't get to a mall anytime soon* and I want to figure this out before I buy. I usually take a Medium in shirts, but do their shirts tend to run on the small side?

Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...

I used to work @ forever 21 for about two and half years @ Milwaukee's bayshore towncenter. What an intresting place. Customers used to always crack me up. Its a lot better shopping there than working there.

The clothes are pretty nice, I would say in the 'midscale' of fashion. Not too cheap but not too expensive. You could buy a nice outfit there for a little under $50, accesories and all.

I hadn't really read the post, but your emoticon caught my eye.

I wouldn't call it midscale... I'd lean more toward, "cheap" and inexpensive.

Yeah, a whole outfit for under 50 bucks is definitely in "cheap" territory. lol

She's absolutely doing great for her age (or any age).

She also looks ridiculous. biggrin

You know, it's only a matter of time before someone comes in here and gives me the usual women can rock whatever look they want for as long as they want and who are you to say wa-wa-wa-wa-wa-wa... mad

Let's save ourselves some time by addressing this issue off the bat. Yes, of course women (and dudes) can absolutely do that. We don't pay for each other's clothes in here. Yes, you will still look a bit foolish and like you're trying too desperately cling on to youth. nod But some people will dig it and that's always empowering. So carry on.

There are plenty of ways to look young and age appropriate. When you try to look young by dressing like a junior...guess what...you do exactly the opposite. It's a dead giveaway that you're not young.

I agree wit you, JA. But I do admire when somebody has made the obvious choice to age well and followed through with the commitment that takes.

More often than not, though, it's just chicks and dudes with delusions of hotness.

I know I'm not in the norm when it comes to spending on clothes because of my job, but $50 for a whole outfit PLUS accessories? I think my earlobes turned a lil' green just reading that.

Forever 21 is the place you go when you want something super trendy you'll only wear once or twice.

I think (as a rule) as long as you're flattering your body-type you're usually OK. For example, if you've got wrinkled knees, you probably shouldn't be show-casing them.

Today I'm wearing a crisp, fitted, black, button-down tuxedo shirt (buttoned all the way to the top), red, plaid, pleated skirt that hangs just above the knee, black tights and black mary jane heels. Oh, and my hair is in low, subdued pigtails. Admittedly, I'm dressed like I'm 16 but in a conservative, appropriate way. And I look damn cute. hmph!

Saw a perfect example of this today. A very attractive woman probably in her mid to late 60's. Hair bleached within inches of its life, super low cut v-neck sweater showing off her skeletal chest, skinny jeans and platform peep toe ankle boots she could barely walk in. It was obvious she had spent a LOT of money on her clothes and shoes but she looked a hot mess. None of it was even remotely appropriate and it aged her dramatically. It was a shame because she really was quite beautiful.

Carrie, your outfit sounds cute as the dickens. But folks expect funky from you, so you've laid the groundwork. nod

I have on a pair of almost-as-tight-as-leggings black riding pants, with black suede high-heeled booties, a purple silk tunic top and a charcoal gray, knee-length sweater coat with a flounce at the front opening. There is no way I could wear these pants without covering my hiney and upper thighs, so I made sure I did. The outfit is youthful and fun, yet appropriately modest.

There are definitely exceptions to the rule (that's why I said discenring eye) if you know how to pick and choose a trend to make it work for you. For the most part taking it off the mannequin and wearing it as shown is a recipe for disaster IMO. The most successful way for a woman who is not a junior to rock something really trendy is by picking an element off that trend and incorporating it into something that is more appropriate for her. I think you can wear something that is flattering to your body and still come off as trying too hard. There are many women who have rocking bodies but look ridiculous wearing the same outfits as their high school age daughters.

And I'm not saying another word on pigtails. You know how I feel about them on anyone over the age of 12. hmph! hug

I couldn't have said this better. nod

There's a big difference between having a tried and true (and successful) "look" and just trynna look young beyond a lick of sense. There is also a huge difference between trying to look youthful and young. Your look is thought out and polished. It makes a world of difference.

I think it's really cute and I love the colour.

I'm ok with some people thinking I dress too young for my age. This weekend this early 20 something girl came up to me (while I was shopping with my mother) and told me that she loved my look, that it suited me. I thought it was really funny. So maybe I do dress young but no one has said anything about it...well, to my face. lol
