Hhhhmmmm.....I don´t know...most of the ladies I know who happen to be in their late 30s or early 40s ( or even 50s) look really, really good and could easily wear a lot of the stuff that I just saw on the 21Forever website.

I just HAD to look there after reading your post. lol

No really, age is nothing but a number if you know how to look after yourself. Many people think I´m at least ten years younger than I actually am, and the same goes for most of the ladies in my life....some look much younger than they are but they exercise a lot and eat healthy stuff.

A bad diet, very little exercise, lots of booze in younger years and cigarettes make women look old.

Then again.....there IS of course a lot of age specific stuff on that website that should only be worn by teenagers and twentysomethings. Not because they have the figure ( because most of the time, they don´t) but because of certain fashion trends.

Just like there´s a lot of stuff out there that younger men ( and I´m using the term "men" very generously here wink ) like to wear that I wouldn´t even touch.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I'm 20 something (sometimes even 5) in my head, but my body begs to differ.

Yes, of course taking care of oneself is a good thing and many folk look younger than their age but if you're 50 something you probably don't want to be trynna look like Rhianna or Kim Kardashian.

There's a big difference between having a tried and true (and successful) "look" and just trynna look young beyond a lick of sense. There is also a huge difference between trying to look youthful and young. Your look is thought out and polished. It makes a world of difference.

I hadn't really read the post, but your emoticon caught my eye.

I wouldn't call it midscale... I'd lean more toward, "cheap" and inexpensive.

I know I'm not in the norm when it comes to spending on clothes because of my job, but $50 for a whole outfit PLUS accessories? I think my earlobes turned a lil' green just reading that.

Forever 21 is the place you go when you want something super trendy you'll only wear once or twice.

nod

You wear them to the club, and toss 'em later.

Oh, I think there's definite leeway when you know what you're doing or can be critical in your choices. Let's just put it this way...if you're past your 20's (I'll even go as far as early to mid 30's) maybe you don't want to buy your whole outfit at some of these super trendy mall shops.

Sooooooooooo much better on you

I think it's really cute and I love the colour.

I'm ok with some people thinking I dress too young for my age. This weekend this early 20 something girl came up to me (while I was shopping with my mother) and told me that she loved my look, that it suited me. I thought it was really funny. So maybe I do dress young but no one has said anything about it...well, to my face. lol

I got ID’d twice this weekend. TWICE. Once at a happy hour and once at brunch (yay mimosa!), so it’s not like I was in a dark, crowded bar or club. It’s possible folks were being nice or just really strict, but I think it’s ‘cause my sense of style actually does make me look more youthful than I am.

I just think there is a point when looking like an "old-ass tween" just isn't cute.

Personal style, yeah... but maybe that personal style needs an update. Sometimes you have to let it go.

Did you ever walk behind someone who looks great from the back, but when she turns around, you're like eyepop because the face does not fit the whole presentation?

That doesn't mean run to JC Penney and get matching polyester separates, but I believe there is such a thing as "dress your age".

Simple rule of thumb: If you were old enough to wear it the first time it was a fad, you're too old for it now.

That's my whole point. People get dressing youthful and dressing young twisted IMO.

There comes a point when, guess what...you're not young, no matter how much you work out, how great you look or how young you feel. You are your age. Age is real, whether you like it or not. lol

I buy jeans, winter hats & scarves from there. I'm 40, about a size 5, and dress according to what fits the occasion, my body and my attitude. This weekend I'll be attending a wedding where I'll don a conservative looking Calvin Klein sheath dress and Italian stilettoes from Vicini. However, for the rest of the week from day to day it will be me in streetwear, cropped leather jackets, converse sneakers, t-shirts with Japanese logos and anime characters, and the jeans I bought at Forever 21 in waist size 28. Deal with it . Different cities have different style attitudes tinkerbell

Sure, you´re right. I was just saying that a lot of the stuff on their website looks kinda alright for people over 29..not all of it, but some of it, and that some people can get away with dressing young...however, I do know that there are things that cannot and should not be worn by people in their 30s or older.

Anyway.....you look great for your age..I´d never assumed that you sometimes FEEL your age.

What exactly do you mean when you say that your body begs to differ? Is it that you need more time to recover from a hangup, or have problems with staying up late or with stamina?

I´m just curious, because I feel much more energetic than I did in my late 20s.

Example:

This worn with tights (opaque, so that it's more of a top than a dress) and high boots would not be a sad choice.

While this will make you look like an over the hill sad disco cokewhore.

Some things like this would be fine in fabric and pattern if not for the gynecological hemline. I don't care how great your gams be...paparazzi crotch-shot length is best left to the younger gals. Take it to mid thigh or just above the knee if you're past your 30's.

Okay, I'm not going to lie, you would never catch me in the eeny weeny teeny dresses that you can find there. Those would look ridiculous on me...actually they don't look good on a lot of folks lol But I do advocate for folks who can find a t-shirt or jacket or jeans there. I like a variety of things running from higher end conservative or designer pieces right on down to some t-shirt I might find at Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe. I guess I just get annoyed with people that want to belittle discount fashion when I know for a fact that some of the most explosive, creative, fashion forward looks come out of what people can do with thrift and what I call "snatch pieces" (as in snatch that s*** right up) because they stand out as particularly stylish and can be worn in original ways.

Fashion/Style has nothing to do with $$$. My beef (if you can call it that, I'm just trash talkin blahblah lol) is with trying to look too young and looking sad...which can just as easily be achieved by paying designer prices. lol

Im with Ottensen on this... I was a little offended by some peoples comments... Just because some of us dont shop and buy name brand designer shit off the runway does not mean we dont look perfectly cute! I got alot of compliments on an outfit I wore today and the shirt came from Vanity, and the pants Maurices and GASP my shoes were from payless.. I dont look cheap, nor trashy, I looked very professional and all at around 60.00 or so dollars..(accessories not included) . hmph!

Anyone shop there? Are their clothes true to size? I'm thinking about doing a bit of online shopping *can't get to a mall anytime soon* and I want to figure this out before I buy. I usually take a Medium in shirts, but do their shirts tend to run on the small side?

Depends. One season they can be normal fit and the next they run small.

Yeah, I definitely didn't mean to imply that there was anything wrong with not paying a lot - especially if you're buying something that's going to have a limited lifespan.

<--- almost never pays retail

My beef (if you can call it that, I'm just trash talkin blahblah lol) is with trying to look too young and looking sad...which can just as easily be achieved by paying designer prices. lol

I agree. nod (see my example at #20 )

I am a bargain shopper with the best of them. BUT sometimes "discount fashion" is poorly made with subpar materials. There is a difference between "inexpensive" and "cheap".

Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."
