Horrible story, but I can't blame the dog owners. Dude's been in this country's 26 years and doesn't know English?

In the country for 26 bleeding years and can't speak a work of english??? Fuck 'im!!!

I'd have ripped him apart myself if I'd caught him in my garden!!!

This is beyond not reading English. People really lack common sense.

We have Beware of Dog signs on our fences and a sticker on our front window that says we have 2 dogs (for firefighters in case of fire). When people knock on our door our dogs immediately bark (Bogart's bark is pretty telling of his size). Bogart is protective of us and our home. When we have guests, we usually walk him and have our guests walk in with him together. He then knows those people are invited into our home and is perfectly fine. (the orgers who've been here can tell you) Otherwise he ain't havin it. Do not just walk into my house.

I can't tell you how many times I open the door to find people standing in our entryway (rather than outside of the stormdoor) where he could get at them if we don't act quickly enough.

lock the outer door when you're home.. they don't need to be up in there

Dogs are SUPPOSED to bite strangers. That who I want my dogs to eat...stay off my property. 26 years and no english? Thats foolishness....and tells me he had no intention of contributing to this country in any meaningful fashion.

Unless they are properly trained as attack/security dogs then no, they are NOT supposed to and people that use them as such should not be allowed to own animals.

A dog does not/should not have to be formerly trained as an attack dog to be protective of one's home or one's person/family.

I understand what you're saying, but Beware of Dog signs are not unique to English speaking countries. If there is a fenced yard, one should not venture in uninvited. Furthermore, if there is a fenced yard with a SIGN on it which one does not understand then one should most definitely stay the hell out.

The sad thing is that this involves Pits and that changes a lot of the dynamics and introduces a lot of questions. Bogart (our St. Bernard) will not maul someone who intrudes into our space. He will let you know and give you plenty of warning. Then he might nip at you if you are in our space uninvited to further let you know. No one has ever pushed him further and we, of course, have never let a situation get out of hand.
