50th anniversary of the Flintstones 50th anniversary of the Flintstones
By Agencies The animated series ran from September 30, 1960 to April 1, 1966 on ABC. Produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, The Flintstones is about a working class Stone Age man’s life with his family and his next door neighbor and best friend.
The show is set in the Stone Age town of Bedrock. In this fantasy version of the past, dinosaurs, saber-toothed tigers, woolly mammoths, and other long extinct animals co-exist with barefoot cavemen. Critics and fans alike agree that the show was an animated imitation of The Honeymooners with rock puns thrown in.

Why is Bam Bam on the roof? That's dangerous. Pebbles aint on the roof.
Didn't the Rubbles have a sabertooth cat as their pet?
Where's that green alien that used to kick it with them?
Did any realize they all lived in track homes?

The Great Gazoo. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I will never forget the episode where Gazoo made clones of Fred and Barney, and all they said was "Yes yes yes" and "no no no" so that they could go bowling instead of go to dinner with their wives.

OMG - that was a great episode!
And who didn't love Cary Granite and Stony Curtis? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Haven't seen it in decades, but it was a daytime staple when we were growing up.

Most people don't get it till I explain it to them, though.
I love The Flintstones. Cartoons in the '70s were so great.

I like the one with the Ann Margaret character (Ann Margrock). Fred and Barney sang with her.
"I loves you but...I aint gonna be your fool!"
Terribly cute and funny. There was another band on there called the "Way Outs" and all they sang was...
"We're gonna go WAY OUT WAY OUT...that's where the fun is WAY OUT"
My aunt said that the Flintstones used to come on at night when she was young and it was intended as an adult cartoon much like Family Guy and King of the Hill are for today's generation. I'd argue that the Flintstones is tame compared to the Family Guy. There's nothing remotely shocking about the Flintstones except those episodes with the bank robbers and the one where Wilma filmed a commercial with a gay guy who couldn't put any manly feelings into his line.
