To me, after watching two full episodes and bits and pieces here and there, the show sucks.

I watched it again and got bored. I know it's only the first episode, but I don't think i'll like it.

LaGuerta and Batista was annoying at first for sure. But now that I've grown used to it I actually appreciate that the show has some different relationship dynamics.

I like Jimmy Smits on the show, but you knew he was going to die. Lithgow was genius, but you knew he was going to die. The Rita character (and especially her kids) have actually always annoyed me, but I knew that eventually they'd be gone. If you look at the arch of the show from the beginning up to the end of last season that's actually what it's been about. Dexter can't make friends and he can't have normal relationships. That's why I think it's very likely that Debra will eventually loose her life at Dexter's hand. The fact that Dex is actually adopted certainly left that door WAY more open than I orginally thought.

Also, I thought the neighbor was going to be a red herring. But after they immediately brought him back into use in the first ep this season I'm not quite as bothered. Unfortunately, people cheat like that quite often, especially when they're feeling lonely or unloved. I actually find it interesting that such a small incident from last season, only witnessed by Vince at the time, could be the one thing that keeps suspicion on Dex this season.

I'm still most interested in who Dexter's antagonist will be this season. Himself? The FBI? The rest of the station? How far will Deb go to defend him? How far will Dex go to prove his innocence? It could be a great season. I'm certainly expecting more out of it than the last one. Other than the Trinity storyline, which was definitely great.
