CANT BE DONE

Question for all the orgers 30 and over, now that you are getting older do you find it difficult to do some of the things that you really enjoyed when you were younger? For me it would have to be going on roller coasters, I use to love'em but my body just cant take'em anymore, I get dizzy as HELL, damn it sucks to get old. sad

I'm still technically a teenager and used to love coasters but couldn't take them starting my junior year of high school! Major migraines. So don't feel too badly, Paisley.

omg Hmmm, I thought you were at least 22 from your profile pic, Natsume.

By the way I can't ride the coasters either, Paisley and I'm 24. They make me feel sick

I find it harder 2 shop 4 clothes, cuz, now I'm buying shit that I feel I should b wearing, not what I want 2 wear. I'd look pretty silly in 2day's young man's shit! I guess I look classier 2 rolleyes

I find it actually kind of strange when people tell me I look older. Because I never get that shit in real life! People tend to think I'm much younger than I actually am... I still get carded for cigarettes and I'll be 20 this year evil

Maybe it's my height...

cigarettes: disbelief however I can't talk, I smoked for the best part of six-seven years before I finally beat the nicotine demon. sorry, i'm sure you don't need an orger giving you shit about smoking. stunts your growth, too! lol

Hey wait a minute, you live in the States, though. You're SUPPOSED to still get carded for cigarettes at age 19!

But I had that hassle, too when I was over in the US between the ages 21 and 23 and was smoking. You can get cigs when you're 18 in Aus, you see.

Ok I'll shut up now about the cigarettes.

This was supposed to be Paisley's thread about not being able to do things as you get older...but hey now, this does kind of relate and I will say, cigarettes will definitely stop you from being able to do a lot of things well as you get older, if not destroy you completely.

lol

See ya!

lol I can honestly say I'm not addicted. I'll smoke whenever I get the urge - which is usually when drinking. I'll buy a pack when I feel like it, nurse it for a good month or two (I dig stale cigarettes, same with soda) then not smoke again for years. I haven't smoked for a while, and if I pick up a cigarette it doesn't bother me because I know I don't need it. I've been on this cycle for about four years now and I think I've only smoked a total of maybe 2 packs.

Dunno if you buy any of this shit, but it's less about chemical needs for me and more about psychowhatever. Same reason smoking pot doesn't really do anything for me except make me sleepy, because I am so aware and waiting for the side effects to kick in that I think I psych myself out. I'm too damn rational for my own good!

Man I sound like an addict trying to convince others that I don't have a problem. ANYWAY...

(For the record, I have always been short my whole life, and have not grown since junior high. My sisters are just as short and I don't see myself growing in the near future, so smoking doesn't worry me!)

AND... I live in an extremely hippie town, loads of college kids, and you honestly do not get carded for anything here. I've bought alcohol before without an ID, or with friends' IDs (who look nothing like me, might I add) and nobody has ever said anything. However, they're bigger shitheads about cigarettes, I don't know why. I do realize the rest of the world does not function like this though. biggrin

(Oh and the legal smoking age in California is 18, too)

Fair enough, I used to do the same, especially when I was slowly fazing out cigs for good...but yes, you are psychologically, if not chemically addicted, by doing this.

Fair enough, but don't the other proven side effects scare the shit out of you when you think about it? They did for me everytime I put one of those things in my mouth, whether I consciously acknowledged it or not...deep down I knew even one cigarette could kill me (this is a fact, it is possible to get lung cancer from simply smoking one cigarette - there's that much SHIT in there, including ammonia and things they use in paint stripper).

However, they're bigger shitheads about cigarettes, I don't know why.

Maybe they're trying to be responsible and don't want to be part of (selling you) something that could kill you?

(Oh and the legal smoking age in California is 18, too)

Oh, I didn't know that. Where I was (various parts of Oregon), it's 21.

Anyway, that's my twocents I guess I just want to be an old fuddy duddy now at the ripe old age of 24 and point out to younger would be smokers that it's FUCKEN hard to quit smoking (nicotine is the most addictive substance known to man) and now that I've had my 6 year fill of tar, life is a lot better without it.

I still drink like a fish, though lol

Nah because I'm young and immortal. I won't be drinking and smoking like this once I'm out of college - just now it's much easier.

My grandfather died of lung cancer from smoking a pipe - my dad also smoked cigarettes for a good number of years. My other grandfather was an alcoholic before he went into a nursing home. It runs through my family but I'm not particularly worried, as I tend to have excellent self-control. Thanks for your concerns, though biggrin

Yeah, dammit! Why does god makes us get fat and wrinkly and just generally SAG until we eventually look like a bunch of old testicle skin as we get older? Bastard!!

I'm starting to second guess my driving. (I love to drive and am good at it)

Pain isn't as easy to tune out.

I don't get what teens are wearing nowadays (OMG I can't believe I said that)

All-nighters and work...NEVER!

Unloading groceries is starting to suck.

Physically I can do everything I did when I was younger.
But now there are things I'd rather not do anymore, like suck my thumb, and wear diapers.

I keep in shape, so I have no problems.
I jog, work out in the gym and work out in bed mr.green so my body is in a great shape.

I just realized this year that I can not pull all nighters! I was out till 1 am with a friend, and the next morning was hell.

Also keeping my weight at a decent level is getting harder and harder...In fact I gained 20 pounds out of nowhere.

And now I have an appointment with a Neurosurgeon who does accupuncture, and hypnosis to meld the mind and the brain into the same thinking pattern.

One more thing that is extremely hard is realizing you are a certain age, and not feeling one bit that number...
