Old Family Photos - Whore 'em up, bitches!
1969. Dad was 27, mom was 22 (and yes, she had on two hairpieces, and made the dress she's wearing), and I was around 18 months. My aunt Susan (dad's sister) sent me this picture. It's 11x14, and I've only seen it 5x7 in B&W. The picture is treated to look like a painting, and has a canvas texture to it. I was just so stoked when I pulled it out of the envelope. I put it in a frame and hung it up the next day. For those that remember the store chain, the portrait was taken at TG&Y.
Mom was glam before glam was something to be. She didn't just wear that hair, she wore it. OWNED IT.

Your mom's beehive is OFF THE HOOK!
You look exactly the same! You can totally see grownup Ernest in that lil baby's face. I look nothing like myself when I was little.

Nice family photo. Dude did you say TG&Y. You went waaaaaaay back. I ask a few people about that from time to time and they don't remember. Just don't tell my you used to take photos at Zayre's too. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

We didn't have Zayre's. Never heard of it (I did look it up real quick.) TG&Y had photographers come in that acted as vendors, much the same way Walmart does now. The local one for us was Hal Owen (his name is stamped on the back of the picture). They did a lot of years of portraits at our local TG&Y, which is now divided up into a Computer Renaissance and Burlington Coat Factory, the last time I was home, which was 2000.
For those that don't know, TG&Y was truly considered a five and dime store back then. They were the Walmart of their day. I loved going there. (Remember Otasco?)

I've been waiting for this one. Mom scanned and sent it to me today. It's a scream, and the last of my urban cowboy phase. When I heard "She Works Hard For The Money" on the radio, I ditched the hat and denim vest, and have been dancing ever since.
Mom's graduation picture, 1965 I believe.

These are great pictures. They have a great retro feel, especially the Panama pictures. Reminds me of an old Hollywood movie.

They found his missing twin brother in there when he was 10. It was a sad and shocking event. Made all the local papers.
