Who ever uses Adobe Reader in the first place?

Hey, I don't know who in here still uses PCs (though I think a good portion of y'all still do) but how many have ever in their lives use Adobe Reader? Unless they needed to have PDF files for work or something, I don't know who uses them. I can kinda see how they could be important but I've never used it unless I have to. Today I had an annoying update thing. So I was just wondering who uses it and who doesn't. lol

I use it daily at my job. I also use Adobe Writer to convert Word and Excel documents to .pdfs before I email them.

The ones that use it, do y'all do it for presentation values for work. I wonder if it's required.

I can see how that would be used for that. Usually with Acrobat lol

We use it all the time. Not Reader - Acrobat. Our specs are PDF'd. Our proofs are PDF'd.

But then, we use the entire Adobe suite - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. shrug

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

For me, the primary reason is so I share static versions of my documents that can't be changed. You never want to share training materials (and most business docs) unless they're PDFs.

A lot of the files we work on and with come from a variety of sources. Having them scanned as a PDF improves our workflow. Being able to edit them with full Acrobat completes the job.

Do you have a job Timmy?

A great deal of resource material on the web is presented in PDF format also, this is where Reader comes in and does a great job of what it does.

Nah but I was just wondering. I could think if I did get one that has to do with business, then it's a better alternative. smile

Thanks guys, just wanted to know lol

yeahthat Although there is a program (writer?) that allows one to convert .pdfs to word and then you can edit the document and convert it back to .pdf. I used to do that at my old job -- I would convert the exhibition catalogue essays to word and copy the text only (leave out the images) so it would take up less paper/space in the overall resource guide.

Well I did move it to a new drive. I had an error trying to uninstall it so I can reinstall it because I did something stupid. But I got it back and put it in another drive (which has more free space). So everything's right again. smile

I didn't really wanna tell the real reason I asked lol biggrin

Strangely enough when I was in college for computer courses, the topic of PDFs were NEVER brought up. (Maybe it's because I was in a community college lol)

Adobe reader is essential. Untill there is better semi-universal fomat for saving documents, Adobe PDF is it.

Even when it came out, I hardly heard my teachers talk about how to use them for work. They just taught us the basics. confused
