Queef. I don't care how you want to try and brighten that one up. The word already exists. |

Really? Wow. Talk about sucking all the romantacism out of a perfectly well written concept. "I saw you smizing so I came over to introduce myself." |

I knew it was relating to staring at a camera, btw. But it's STILL not a word, so I can misuse it however I like. |

What kills me is that one would get so twisted over this, especially in this situation.
Someone has used incorrect grammar. Good Gawd Maude!! Let me strap on my fury hat and set them STRAIGHT.
Seriously?
I cannot tell you how many times I've posted something quickly here at work then gone back and realized I've used it's when I should have used its.
Considering this is a Prince website, I should probably be worried about being sued over it by the grammar police.
I think you're taking this friendly little grammar tip too seriously.
Agreed and maybe I've just been here a tad too long as this is the umpteenth friendly little grammar tip .orgers have felt needed to be put out there. I'm firmly planted in denial |

"Would've" is a contraction of "would have"--as in, "I would've been on time if not for the flat tire."
"Would of" is just wrong. Always. It is never, ever correct to say "would of."
This applies to "could've" and "should've" as well.
Please make a note of it.
Oh! And please post your grammatical pet peeves or general grammar comments and questions so this thread doesn't die as horrible a death as all my other threads do.

CONVERSATE IS NOT A WORD!!!!
Okay... I have had this argument over and over again.... The incorrect use of "MYSELF"
Ex: You can speak to John or myself.
You can speak to John or ME.
People think that it sounds more intelligent if they use "myself" where "me" belongs.
My friend and I have a silent campaign against that shit at work. I think it's more prevalent in the military than most lines of work. I think they feel it sounds more authoritative.

otherwise, I could or could not care less
whichever is correct
Could not. And that one drives me frickin' bonkers! If you could care less, then you DO actually CARE. That is one of the very few examples where I will interupt a conversation to correct someone. I don't even care if it's embarrassing for them. That and the pronunciation of coupon. It's coopon, not quepon.
It annoys me hearing "Q-pon", too.
As for could/could not care less, I agree it should be could not, but always assumed that saying one could care less carried a subtle sarcasm that one really does not give a shit, but if they really put forth the effort they could theoretically give less of a shit. |

Also, "it's" is a contraction for "it is." That is the only proper use of it's.
Correct use: It's one o'clock.
The possessive form - "its" - does not have an apostrophe. It is the parallel of "his" and "hers."
Correct use: My pen lost its cap.
Incorrect use: My pen lost it's cap.
I disagree with what you wrote in your first sentence. It is not the only proper use, you can also use "it´s" as a short form of "it has", like in " It´s been seven hours and thirteen days since you took your love away."
Or was it fifteen days? I don´t remember.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?" |
