do people unload their crap on you? By crap I mean stuff they pulled out of their basements during a big clean because they thought "you might want it".
A friend just gave me a big stack of records yesterday and said "Go sell 'em on eBay!" Lots of old operatic singers, Luciano Pavarotti etc. And people are commanding some decent prices on these records - but nobody's buying them.
My other source of junk is my father-in-law whom I love dearly. He's always giving me jeans and jackets I'll never wear, but I'll never refuse them because I don't want the thing between us to change. I'll just have to make a trip to Goodwill sometime I guess. And hope he doesn't find his old clothes!

Hell.No. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yes.
Parents and friends.
They won't learn.
My dad is a hoarder. I fight it EVERYDAY, so no, I don't want your castoffs even if they're "nice".
I'm firmly planted in denial

I have a large 4 bedroom house and people seem to think I'd like to store their shit for them. Shake it til ya make it

Yes.
My mother in law routinely gets rid of things - furniture, clothing, bed linens, grooming products, you name it. But because she takes really good care of her things, she doesn't want to throw it away. Despite our repeated requests to stop, she drops by unannounced, thrusts bags of random stuff at us, and leaves.

my sister gives me bags of clothes from her older son ....i go thru them straight away...keep what will fit rugrat now, put away stuff that will fit within 2 yrs (or one...growth spurts ) and put what i dont want/need in the salvos bin...
then clean out rugrats wardrobe, and pass clothes back to my sister for her younger son
mainly tops, they all go thru knees of clothes
seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

No, I unload mine on others.
Ex-g/f got my old furniture.
Ex-wife got my old phone, computer, camera, luggage, etc. Aside from the things awarded to her in the divorce decree.
My ex-roommate got my old TV, granted I charged her $25.
My brothers get my old video games probably once a year.
I'm sure there is more.
That said, none of it was "crap" and was usually something they needed or wanted.

+1000 Although friends may call and ask if I want/need a certain record, book or comic because they know I'm a geek about such things. Thankfully my family is small and doesn't like to give shit away.

I need to unload some of my stuff on somebody else. The only time I did it was when I was moving into my brand new house. I gave away tons of clothes and shoes so I wouldn't clutter up the house. Now 20 years later, I have loads of stuff again I'll never wear or use... I need to get busy listing on Ebay or just shut my eyes, pack it up and call Goodwill.
