And once again...they did the entire thing without edits. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Awesome. I read a HUUUUUGE interview with them last year where they talked about all kinds of things relating to their music, their videos and the music industry. Unfortunately, they still don't sell that many albums and couldn't really see where their videos had helped (them in particular) in this regard. Fortunately, their videos are watched millions of times. So people have actually contacted the band with ideas and have even offered to pay for them (via sponsorship and product placement). This one is lookin' more like they did it on their own, production wise.

Me too. | |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I'm just not hearing it. But I usually don't when people try to tell me one song sounds like another. There's only twelve notes and everything has been done before.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I definitely hear Prince.
I guess I should get some of their stuff.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |

I still don't hear I Would Die 4 U at all. It might sound like some other Prince songs, but not that one. *shrug* Like I said, I'm not good with that. If I like something I just like it. My brain doesn't do the comparison thing most of the time, even if I want it to. Oh, but if you start listening to a lot of 70's funk records it's really clear where Prince got his influences anyway. It's all been done before.

I love this video! I saw it yesterday...

Very good. I didnt get all the fuss with the treadmill one but I like this. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

They're pretty damn amazing. I love their videos, and I like their songs. I really should support them by actually buying some of their music.

Their latest CD is good, overall. I heard "White Knuckles" before the album was released and bought it off that, alone. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Is this on Blue Colour of the Sky? I don't have any of their albums but would probably pick this up first.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yup!
A word of warning: You are going to hear the intro to the first track (awesomely titled "WTF?") and want to dance. And you won't be able to, because the stupid thing is written in 5/4 time - which is its own WTF! We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Hmmm...it's true.

Told ya! We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That doesn't make me want to dance at all. Bop my head maybe. Is the Prince influence this strong throughout the whole album?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Does that answer your question? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
