Still "Bitter Moon" with Emanuelle Seigner and Peter Coyote and Hugh Grant and Kristin Scott-Thomas from Under The Cherry Moon. There are probably other ones that I like much more but Bitter Moon is always the first one that comes to my mind, probably because of its storyline and how it deals with a relationship going sour. It´s not exactly a "thriller" though...rather a drama.

A funnier, more lightweight and newer one would be Woody Allen´s "Vicky Cristina Barcelona". It is also not a thriller and maybe not really a drama, but I could watch it on repeat for days and it always puts me in a great mood and makes me sad at the same time because I envy the protagonists in it. wink

Great shout with "eyes wide shut, that was an erotically charged film if ever there was one. I lov William Friedkin as a director although i gotta say i was not overly impressed with "Jade" when i bought it.

Crash, for some reason I was kinda weirded out from the reviews...wasn't there some kind of necrophilia element to this with the car crash scenes and all? I just remember something vague about that from some reviews I read and I think it scared me off from seeing the film. boxed

I have seen many horror movies...twisted Japanese films, foreign films that made my stomach churn, but Crash really creeped me out. The cast was so good that I was surprised even moreso. James Spader, Holly Hunter, Rosanna Arquette, Elias Koteas...

Here is a review:

Cronenberg excels at bringing difficult pieces of fiction to film. This is one such example.

The written works of J.G.Ballard are generally, dark, dreary, and disturbing psychological fiction. The characters in them are often very disturbed and socially dysfunctional. These are people who, often due to unusual circumstances, are not in their right minds.

In Crash, we are observing a group of characters who are all survivors of horrific car crashes. Like many crash survivors, they are, during their period of recovery, in shock. They are badly shaken. They are recovering from severe physical injuries, and they are disoriented, fearful, and emotionally numb.

Instead of recovering in the normal fashion, (how sad that we've come to think of auto accidents as normal) these characters stumble into the car crash cult of Vaughan. Vaughan, who is brilliantly portrayed by Elias Koteas, is a scientist who believes that there is a strong connection between the violence of a car crash and the passion of the sexual act.

Another erotic thriller that made my skin crawl was Dead Ringers. Both of these are David Cronenberg films.

I couldn't make it through that movie--someone called it "The Unbearable Lenghness of Film"--it is one of the very few movies I walked out on.

I was pretty young when I saw it, but strangeley I read the book soon afterward and it quickly became one of my favorites.

But with those two actors, I wonder if I would like it today hmmm

movies of this genre usually suck (no pun intended) or are extremely overrated;

some of my favourites:

-LAST TANGO IN PARIS (flawed, and depressing, but certainly the best erotic drama of all time)

-BELLE DE JOUR : it's a flawed film too, but easily the best erotic comedy/light drama of all time nod recommended cool

-EXOTICA

-BODY HEAT

-EYES WIDE SHUT (with hardcore scenes, it could have been the first "good" porn movie of all time lol)

-THE LAST SEDUCTION

-BASIC INSTINCT: not a great movie, but very entertaining in a trashy way

-SEA OF LOVE

-DRESSED TO KILL

By the way, I think that both Emmanuelle and In the Realm of Senses are TERRIBLE films, pure 70s explotation ... confused lol

This was probably my favorite erotic thriller. The scenes were incredibly hot, plus the whole murder mystery story was excellent as well. But I liked this Mexican erotic drama as well.
