Driving stick is a lot more fun than automatic. And there's less opportunity to zone out while driving because you have to remain engaged IMO.

Actually, I think it's abundantly clear that he wasn't arguing with anyone, rathar than wanting to express his happiness that he got something new that he really wanted for a while. It hardly warranted a compare and put-down response like we see in your first post. Even if the vehicle is not to your liking, a simple congrats would have been sufficient enough simply out of good manners, instead of trying to to turn this into a metaphorical penis measuring contest.
