Who Is The Most Famous Woman In The World?

Dead Or Alive: No Biblical or Fictional Figures Please

Queen Elizabeth II, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Madonna, Princess Diana, Oprah, and Mother Teresa are all finalists on my list. Who is the most famous?

Or is it someone else?

Marilyn is more of an American icon than an international one. In regards to the U.S. I wouldn't have any resistance putting her on the list but it's a different story when talking about the world. It's a big place. Hillary is the most famous First Lady in history and has been a visible figure since her husband first took office in the early 90s. She's considered by many to be the dominant female politician. She was on the world stage when she was FLOTUS, a senator, a presidential candidate (who was first of her kind), and still is as Secretary of State. People know her.

Okay, but now you're mentioning all these things Hillary did in the US. Why would that make her such a famous woman all over the world, more famous than Marilyn? I know people know Hillary, but Marilyn's image is spread all over the world and has been for decades. I'm pretty sure more people in my country know who she is than they know who Clinton is if you show them a picture.

Oh well, it's all silly anyway.

i think all these women are the most famous. some more popular at times than others; but are consistantly mentioned on a list. and yes in some places some of these women may not be as popular or known, but generally these are the top ones mentioned.

now if you're going by last few years, you can probably add Britney Spears, Michelle Obama, even Celine Dion. (after i saw a recent documentary on her, there's no doubt. lol)

I'd say Marilyn Monroe, Madonna and Angelina Jolie, as individuals. I see people like the Queen and any political figures as more famous on a title level. Even Oprah is more a brand than a famous individual, if anyone understands what I mean.

That's a tricky question, most famous today or in all of history?

Actually all mentioned are probably instantly recognized all over the world.

If grandma and grandpa can say their name and recognize who they are, I would say they are famous.

Too American. There are lots and lots of Europeans who have no clue who she is, which leads me to believe that she's even lesser known in other parts of the world.

No argument needed, and no smugness needed either.

I posted what I thought and somebody corrected me on it earlier, end of.

Have a good day/night.

I'm pretty sure that, once someone is dead, s/he passes into the realm of "historical figures," and is no longer famous per se.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
