Thief Returns Stolen TV, Apologizes This is NOT the way 2 welcome new neighbors:Posted: 9:38 pm EDT September 15, 2010Updated: 6:48 am EDT September 16, 2010 ATLANTA -- A family who had just relocated from Philadelphia to Atlanta didn’t exactly get the warm welcome they hoped for.
In an interview with Channel 2 Action News reporter Reggie Aqui, the family recounted being assaulted and robbed upon unloading their belongings at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex. According to the family, they arrived at their new home at about 6 a.m., and noticed a group of men hanging outside their apartment building in the 700 block of McDaniel Street. Against other family members' wishes, the grandmother asked the men to help unload furniture. That’s when things took a turn, the family said. While unloading the furniture, one of the men walked off with the family’s 26-inch LCD television, they said. A scuffle followed, ending with the father being shot in the leg and the mother being punched in the face, the family said. The grandmother was grazed by a bullet, they said. | |
