I went to Las Vegas

And I felt quite indifferent whilst I was there. No, wait, not indifferent to the whole experience, I thought it was over rated and shit. Before you ask I did not lose much money, only 6 dollars. The food was bad, the music they played in the clubs was terrible. I actually spent more time looking at my blackberry then the fake tits on parade at strip clubs.

Anyone else manage not to enjoy themselves in Vegas?

Should have gone to Mecca instead.

I have zero interest in Vegas. Your description is exactly what I picture it to be.

I had a similar experience. I think the Americans I was with thought I was going to be dumbfounded in awe of it all, like some caveman watching fire flicker. It's the rotten core of our psyche made real, repeatedly punching you in the face with true existentialist horror at the decrepid loneliness and reptilian sickness, the primal animalism at the bottom of all our hearts.
Yet, becuase they were my girlfriend's family, I felt I had to wear the mask of the quaint foreigner, smiling and nodding like one of those fucking back window plastic dogs, every time they pointed at a yet more grandiose and disgusting depiction of greed and gauche. I'm not a prick, I appreciated their enthusiasm and energy, but I don't know where they are mentally. Might as well be on Venus. I'd personally never felt so alone. My girlfriend later said they told her I was a depressed person if I couldn't enjoy myself in Vegas. That actually cheered me up. When I told them I had sympathies with the philosophy of communism, they looked at me like I'd just used their cat to wipe my arse. Trashcanman had the right idea. Marx is a comedian to these people, and I don't mean the brothers.

I have always enjoyed going to Las Vegas, but then again I have always seen Prince when I go there. The best time was when I got to see my two favorite performers in one night. I saw TOOL at the Palms and then drove across the street to see Prince at 3121. Only in Vegas.

I think having fun in Vegas depends on who you go with. I don't drink so I don't particulary have fun vacationing with friends who do.. and I suspect it's vice versa for them.

I find that as I've matured ( hah! @ me ) I've either become more jaded or less interested... I was there for New Years and the caliber of people was at the lower end of the bell-curve...

I sound like an old fart now but seriously, the distinct lack of a dress code in the casinos and the caliber & quality of modern music really depresses the shit out of me and it takes away from the Vegas experience...

Vegas was far more exciting 10-15 years ago...

sigh

The hotel was cheap, the car rental was cheap

The opportunity to take a helicopter ride into the grand canyon was AMAZING

I liked the buildings in Vegas, enjoying wandering around the mall, but I couldn't afford any of that fancy stuff there, same as the mall at the casino where I live, it's more for people who pick up a Ferrari on impulse or can't go 2 minutes without shopping for diamonds

I also liked the heat there sun

I spent the 3 days there completely jetlagged, it's possible I would have had more fun if I hadn't been.

i always have a blast. as someone fairly close to LA, it's a nice little mini-vacation. yeah it's plastic and not as cool as other cities, but it's still fun. i enjoy both the insane bender weekends i'll have with my friends, and going with my mom to just relax/shop/swim/eat. there are quite good restaurants there, it's just a matter of finding them. it's all about your attitude, i guess.

I’m not a big fan of Vegas. I’ve been twice and I'm glad to have had the experience. I had fun ‘cause I was with a big group of good friends but I would have had the same fun with them anywhere. I don’t enjoy gambling and the lights and sounds everywhere are downright annoying after about 5 minutes.

Both times I went I was already over it after a couple of days and spent the last evening in the hotel room by myself ordering room service and watching tv. lol

I've been to Vegas once, and I was not impressed. Matter-of-fact, I didn't really like it much. I'm not a gambler nor a drinker and I don't like looking at raunchy shows. The only thing I enjoyed was exploring the restaurants, and those weren't all that impressive. I was there on business and once the meetings were over, I was all too glad to get the hell home.

I love Vegas. I don't gamble really, not against it, just would rather spend my $ on other things.

Vegas for me is so many things. It's the cheesy neon lights that invoke that same feeling as a kid you got from going to the county fair, or going to an amusement park. It's the larger than life feeling you get from the glitz and glamour. It's the beautiful architecture that mimics some of the most famous places on earth. It's the ability to do absolutely what you please, at any time of the day. The warm summer night with a vibe like no other.

I love the excitement of packing for a trip. I love the drive to the airport. I love the waiting in the cab line at the arport, seeing the desert in the backdrop. I love walking thru the shops and seeing a celebrity standing next to you. I love being able to get a to-go cup for your drink at a restaurant.

I love spending $ I can't afford, yet having a lifetime of memories for it.

Vegas is my favorite place on earth if you couldn't tell. Seeing the Bellagio fountains playing Con Te Partiro by Sarah Brightman at night with a nice cigar in my hand is the most amazing thing for me.
