This Charity Made Me Feel Guilty!

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society sent me an envelope full of very nice address labels, and an "offer" 2 contribute certain amounts of monies 4 research and "hopefully a cure"...

My wife and I give 2 several charities a year, and usually we pick them out - as I generally hate junk mail asking 4 contributions.

I understand the relevance of "fishing" 4 money, and truly understand the disease and how it needs 2 b cured and/or controlled... but I detest the "mailers"; yet I really like these address labels.

So I kept the address labels and threw away the rest of the "mailer". biggrin

But now I feel guilty. sad

I didn't ask 4 the address labels, they sent them 2 me! If I didn't keep them, they'd have been thrown away anyway!!! nod

So - should I send them some money? Or just send them a letter (using their return address label prominently affixed 2 the envelope) telling them 2 fuck off?

I await ur decision. eek

i hear you. i donate money to wilderness type funds, then they turn around and spend it on calendars, mailing stickers, stationery and the like, which they mail to me with a request for money!

weird cycle isn't it?

Your ability to be generous is regrettably finite. Make your choices and stick to them with a clear conscience.

Yeah, but what about the address labels?

This is designed to guilt you. Don't encourage this behavior.

I honestly doubt very much that their goal was to make poeple feel guilty.

Why don't you rotate charities this year. Send them some money and feedback on the nice labels. And opt not to donate to a different one.

At least this charity wanted you to have something for your money smile

Ahhh, don't worry about it. Most of those kids with leukemia are just a bunch of pansy whiners.

But you need those labels to send letters to all your healthy friends. And isn't that what it's all about?

Live it up with those labels! Guilt free!

biggrin
