The best show on TV today: MAD MEN (season 4) [img:$uid]http://www-movieline-com.vimg.net/images/mad_men_s4_poster.jpg[/img:$uid]
By the end of episode three it's 1965 and you can feel the change in everything from the first three seasons of the series--the new office, the clothes, the music. Who has been watching?

I have no interest in the show itself. Nothing against the show, I'm just too lazy to get into another TV series. But this, THIS I have TONS of interest in...

I´m still grieving because LOST is over. Takes some time for me to really get into another show again. I´m watching re-runs of Californication, a bit of Nip/Tuck, and I´m trying to get into The Wire.
In a nutshell...what is Mad Men about? The main reason why I skipped it so far is that I´ve heard that the story takes place in the late 50s, early 60s.....not really my favorite time period. What do you like about it? I might give it a try. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

The show is about an advertising firm on Madison Avenue. It is 1965 on the show (season four). Why I love this show is it's really a bunch of character studies. All of the characters have some good, some bad, and I find it fascinating as the show peels back layers to reveal what leads up to various characters' actions. And it is very well written. Plus, the sets, the fashion, the decor - it's great to look at. And most of the cast isn't bad to look at, either. "She made me glad to be a man"

I agree, sextonseven! Mad Men is great - but I still think Season 1 is at the top of my list . I want Don and his dysfunctional wife to get back together.

The scenes with Betty and her new husband seem so removed from everything else. Almost like watching a different show at times since those characters don't interact at all anymore with anyone from the office (even Don for the most part).
Being divorced from Betty has unfortunately removed any last restraints from the real Don. Sleeping in the hall outside his apartment drunk, hooking up (or trying to) with any woman that crosses his path, making mild S&M requests from call girls (I didn't know Don was into that!)--he's totally running wild now. It can't end well.

Photobucket deleted my pics because there was, in my opinion, "minimal" nudity.

I need to catch up. I've been into Entourage and True Blood and......Jersey Shore "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Entourage is funny but I can miss an episode or two and not really miss anything. True Blood on the other hand I haven't missed for the past two and whatever seasons it's been on. The first season sparked my interest, the second season made the show extremely popular and this year it actually got good. That and Spartacus are the best shows on television.

On the season three DVD and blu-ray, there is a substantial documentary (80+ minutes) on slain civil rights activist Medgar Evers as well as a nice pictorial gallery accompanying Dr King's "I Have A Dream" speech. Very cool to devote so much space on the video release to black folks considering how little air time we get on the show due to the time period and geographical setting of the show.

Last night's episode was the most volatile of the series yet I think--Roger's confrontation with the Japanese reps from Honda, Peter's subsequent attack on Roger in his office, and then Don and Betty's relationship must be at its lowest point ever.
It was nice to see Smitty again albeit briefly.
The show is still all kinds of awesome.

It has always been fascinating watching this show, but now it's also frightening. We all know the series is about the fall of Don Draper and the past three seasons he's crapped all over his marriage until it ended and now, thanks to the blackouts, he's crapping all over his job. Scary.
Nice to see the show win its third Emmy in a row for best drama on Sunday.

I don't have cable so I have to wait for it on Netflix, but yeah it is probably my favorite show right now.
It constantly flirts with being totally pretentious, but I have only seen it cross that line once or twice. The best shows do that. They get close to messing it all up completely, but redeem themselves with their brilliance. My Legacy

As I said before, season 4 feels totally different from the previous three seasons. Watching the first episode was actaully a little jarring I thought, seeing the new clothes, hairstlyes and surroundings (the new office, Don's new apartment).
