Absolutely gorgeous animation, possibly the best I've ever seen. The movie itself is rather entertaining, if a bit overstuffed.

They were all interesting enough to hold my attention. Out of the three, I enjoyed The Book of Eli the most.

Nope, no Mesrine yet. I guess it doesn't really matter if I get to see it on the big screen because I'll be buying them on DVD.

perfection! and totally the time for it too!

I'll definitely be going back to it as it's more than just a story. it's really charming.

I indeed watched Breathless / À bout de souffle again this weekend.

It looks stunning on blu-ray. The contrast throughout in particular was very sharp--not that the original Criterion DVD was anything to sneeze at either. The editing was even more madcap than I remembered. star star star star star

Last night, Mr. Deeds (the Adam Sandler one) was on TV. I tried to watch it, 'cause Winona Ryder is in it.

This could be the worst film ever made.

James Bond movies come on every Sunday night here in the fall so, we started last night with Casino Royale with Daniel Craig.

Quo Vadis-on blu-ray. If you like old Bible epics like Ben Hur or Ten Commandments, you'll like this one.

I liked it too until the ending. Everyone was sitting there going, "What? That's it?" eek Of the three or four movies I've seen lately, it's as if they have these great ideas and the movie is going along well and then wham...they run out of ideas and just end with all these ???? ot simply a stupid finale.

That sounds good. A far out idea needs far out execution. Turning it into a genre piece would have been boring.

it definitely added a lot to the overall mood of the film, but especially to the apartment scene where they hardly ever speak or get snappy on each other.

speaking of stunning cinematography, would you happen to own Bergman's Persona in Blu-ray? now that I know will make for a fantastic watch in that format!

As far as I know, Persona has not been released in the blu-ray format yet. It sounds like a must have whenever it does though. I've honestly never seen it.

They've been on DVD for over a year and a half now...

Weird that this was picked up in the US just this year (was released in Europe in 2008) this was on my list of one of the best movies of 2008...

But anyway tortured myself again last night with another Rodriguez produced mess:

It came on last night and I watched it through until the last 10 mins. Hate the ending. I think most of the horror came from how we humans treat each other. sad
