Todd Haynes' Safe.

Julianne Moore was excellent and the movie itself was ...erm...interesting? shrug

I thought it was a great movie. Slow burn and low key in a good way and very well written dialogue. It really shows how seemingly little things can nudge your life in whole new directions sometimes and all of a sudden you find yourself in a whole different place both geographically and emotionally.

Julianne is the woman!!! worship

Did you see "Chloe"? It was pretty good.

No, I haven't seen that but I'm dying to see The Kids Are Alright with Julianne and another favorite of mine, Annette Bening.

I thought it was a very interesting film (almost like a horror film sometimes), very well directed and acted but I have to admit the ending left me pretty much cold. But I guess the ending suited the overall coldness of the film quite well.

I really loved the other Haynes-Moore tandem, Far from Heaven, though.

I saw I Love You Phillip Morris the other day. It was too tragic to be funny, which would have been fine if it hadn't tried so hard to be funny as well.

The last 4 i saw where

Machette- Fantastic fun, would see it again=]

The Expendables- Mucho disappointed!, Sly come on man! i love you but this was lackluster, a few funny lines and a few good action scenes but mediocre overall

The Last Exorcism- Strong first half, weak and stupid second

The American- Beautifully shot, but it just needed more to the story, and the ending was beyond lame.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

You are correct! The movie is based on the belief of how Peruvian women lived in constant fear of rape back in the 80s and early 90s and transfrerred that fear to their daughters through their breast milk. sad

Sympathy For Lady Vengeance. I liked Oldboy more, but it was still good. A couple disturbing scenes in there though

It's a classic kitchen-sink type English film from 1970, love James Mason he was a brilliant actor and a bit sexy too even as an older man.

The American. Everything was great... except the story. disbelief Hard to give it a favorable review without that. I even liked the slow pace to it but it didn't build up to anything special. However, I had no problem with the ending-- in fact that's how I might've left it myself-- but you're kind of left to wonder why exactly we got there other than the general nature of his business. Neither the characters nor the story itself were well thought-out.

I saw Machete a day or two before that and while it's really just a popcorn movie, it was atleast a good one.

The Squid and The Whale & Margot at the Wedding from Noah Baumbach.

The first i thought was excellent and very honest. The other i did enjoy but it felt as though Noah had gotten stuck with his characters and didn't really know where to go with them.

It did have about the best performance I've seen from Nicole Kidman though.

"what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"
