Wrestling Fans.....RIP Luna Vachon

Former WWE Star Luna Vachon Dies

Former WWE, WCW and ECW star Luna Vachon was found dead Friday morning at age 48. Vachon, real name Gertrude Vachon, was found at her mother's home, where she had been staying as a result of a home fire that had destroyed her possessions.

Wrestling promoter and friend David Herro confirmed Vachon's death on his Twitter:

"With a broken heart I am crushed 2 tell u that one of the most amazing people I have ever known has died. God Bless Luna Vachon. I love u"

The Wrestling Observer posted news of Vachon's passing, but said no other details were known at the time of their report. TMZ reported that foul play is not suspected and an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

WWE extended their condolences via an acknowledgment on WWE.com.

Vachon made her pro wrestling debut as part of Kevin Sullivan's "Army of Darkness" stable in Florida Championship Wrestling in 1985. She was a part of the Vachon family wrestling dynasty that included her uncle, WWE Hall of Famer Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon, her aunt, former AWA World Women's Champion Vivian Vachon, and her father, AWA World Tag Team Champion Paul "Butcher" Vachon. Luna gained prominence competing for World Wrestling Entertainment, vying for the Women's Championship and teaming with Bam Bam Bigelow at WrestleMania X. She had been competing on the independent circuit since leaving WWE in early 2000.

"It's a very sad day for wrestling with the passing of Luna Vachon," said Mick Foley of TNA Wrestling. "My heart is aching."

FanHouse will have more details as they are made available.

I remember her as well. These wrestlers are dying in such a short time. Eddie Guerrero was shot dead, Chris Benoit killed his family and himself, now Luna. I used to see them wrestle at MSG in New York.

I guess that I was misinformed. Someone told me he was shot dead in a hotel. Maybe they were confused with another wrestler shrug This much I know, he and wrestler Chyna were tag team partners.

And better known as "The Rock". He will be missed. Gorgeous and a body to die for in person.
